Who cares. They have gone unpunished by the voters for both the government shutdown, and the supreme court blockade, they simply do not care about being unpopular.

Its amazing how such an unrepresentative party can hold together though.

Voters routinely tell pollsters they want more liberal policies but often elect more conservative politicians. It's nothing new. Reagan had the same thing going on for him. When voters start voting for liberal politicians and carrying through on their policy wishes, then this will be a substantive poll.

Polls weren't this far off even in Wisconsin.

Don't Republicans love big business? Actually, that would be bad for the pharmaceutical industry. They'll have something to say about people dying off early, don't cha think? More like, live as long as you can so we have time to clean out your bank account!

#ReformNotReplace

Trump has sympathies with single-payer and/or universal. Are there any examples of that in recent legislation?

66% want to keep the law in some form, yet 46% voted for Trump and about 50% voted for GOP members of Congress. Both Trump and the Republican politicians have been vocal advocates of repealing the law. So there's a large percentage of Americans who're dumb enough to vote for the candidates of repeal, despite not wanting the law repealed. Amazing, yet unsurprising.

They are not dumb. Did Clinton ever said "Vote for me, to save Obamacare"? No.

Democrats will start winning elections when they actually start standing about ideas.

"dumb" when there are more critical issues. Obviously I don't want repeal, which is why I voted D downballot, but literally it's like last on my priority list...might get true single payer out of a repeal soon.

I'm rather optimistic that it won't be repealed though (at least significantly). I wouldn't put the probability greater than 25%

Even if the actual percentage of people who don't want the law repealed is closer to 50%, it just proves that Americans don't know what they want, and don't know why they vote for the candidates that they vote for. We have the most uninformed (and, frankly, apathetic to that fact) voting populous we've had in decades, maybe ever.

Ignorance is bliss.

Regardless of what they end up doing, nobody's quality of life should go down because of it. They should only improve the set up we have now.

And especially if they can't actually get any changes made til a couple of years down the road, by that time Obamacare will be even more entrenched. And people who have health care now will be dependent upon it to a serious degree.

Well, this election in and of itself proved that "majority rules" does not apply in America.

We can't make America great against without universal healthcare as an entitlement.

“I think it is. It’s an entitlement to this country, and too bad the world can’t be, you know, in this country. But the fact is, it’s an entitlement to this country if we’re going to have a great country.” - some guy named Donald J Trump

Well, it still can:

At least we know which provisions of the current law will still be in existence in any (final) replacement Republicans come up with.

It's funny how so many Trump voters vote against their own self-interests.

Well you can't have the good provisions with the mandate. What do people not understand about this? You need the risk spread over the healthy and sick in order of it to work effectively. Otherwise, premiums are going to continue to rise and/or eventually collapse the entire system.

Of course the Ryan will just give coupons to everyone and when those run out, it won't matter which provisions they keep, no one will be able to afford to get care.

The poll means they want to scale it back, not repeal it. It doesn't necessarily mean people want to keep it. They just don't want to repeal everything. Things like no pre-existing conditions and stay on parent's plan til 26 will likely stay, Trump is saying so, and big amendments will be made, though the program will be altered beyond recognition.

Why is this so hard for people? If you charge people the same rate without regards to their health risk, you have to have some mechanism to get everyone in the market.

Either the individual mandate stays, or we go back to the days where we charge more to people based on their conditions and/or deny them outright. It is literally impossible to do neither.
