Not been hearing his name around here for 2020 so I am going to throw it out there because if the Democratic party goes to a progressive platform could he be a potential option considering he was one of the first to legalize weed and implement $15 minimum wage?

thoughts?

This. He's a great combination of progressivism and technocracy. Unfortunately, he isn't charismatic enough to excite the left while also being SJW-friendly enough to energize the right.

I agree he does not have that match charisma but he does have the track record to back it up. If it was a  Inslee/Harris team I think he would do fine, and if Trump is a train wreck then having someone more to the point and has the track record might be more effective.

Washington and Oregon are interesting states. It might be hard for a candidate from there to appeal to a national audience.

Never been tried. Not since Scoop Jackson lost the 76 primary.

For the record, I like Inslee. He's outstanding on environmental and social issues. But he's also been around forever. Unless he gains some sort of widespread national popularity in his second term, I doubt goes anywhere.

I'd love to see a Washingtonian on a national ticket, but Inslee's not the right guy for the job. He's a hell of a lot better than Gregoire, but I doubt he has any national appeal.

Remember when people were speculating that Locke would run?

In theory, a Governor from Washington would be in a unique position to run for President, but they just keep electing boring folks to be Governor.

Locke would have been a good candidate.

He only decided against it for the safety of his family.

Citation for that?

Anyway, Inslee would be a fairly solid VP, but he's too boring to be President.

Wow, jeez, I don't understand the mindset of those who would threaten people, even/especially public officials like that.

Inslee just commuted the sentence of a child killer from death to life, he is getting nowhere near a national ticket. There were issues earlier in his term with prisoners accidentally released early and murderers escaping psychiatric hospitals. He sounds like a Dukakis clone.

Neither of those things stopped him from re-election. Being anti death penalty isn't a deal breaker in American politics.

I think he's positioning for a run, and will try to go for the progressive vote. Doubt he gains any real traction with primary voters though, might be a better as a VP pick.
