For serious discussion here ... if the WWII generation were the greatest generation for their selfless actions is it fair to characterize the Baby Boomers as the worst generation?

They are the generation which took all the Good Intentions of the 1960s and sank it in a sea of drugs and irresponsible sex.  They are the generation that raped the economy for their personal yuppie gain in the 1980s.  They are the generation that refused to go to war but happily sent their own children off to war.  The Presidents from their generation were Bill Clinton, George W Bush, and now Donald Trump.

Has there ever been a worse generation?

Do you consider Obama to be a member of Generation Jones then?

I don't believe in collective generational guilt, but those who do should note that the WWII generation carried out atrocities on a level without any precedent in human history.

I was under the impression that we were restricting this to Americans in those generations, and if we are, your statement is laughably ridiculous.

We're not great at least partly because of our circumstances. Baby Boomers' wounds are for the most part all self-inflicted.

The Vietnam war and stagflation weren't their fault though. The blame for those events goes to the silent and greatest generations.

Point conceded. They can still be faulted for having learned essentially nothing of substance from the Vietnam debacle other than to keep sniping over the fault lines of that period for the next forty years in the hopes that something would somehow change.

Why is the Greatest Generation considered conservative. I mean they probably were the most liberal generation : They voted in FDR and their New Deal as young adults , then were firmly in charge in the 1950s when segregation started to stop, and also firmly in charge(voting,as politicians ) when the Great Society was enacted. Democrats also controlled the house for 40 consecutive years , since their generation was solidly democratic and turnout out the most during midterm elections.

Not at all, they're a mix of good and bad like all generations and many of their members have contributed much of what I love culturally so I can't jump on the boomer bashing bandwagon.

Everybody likes to sh!t on millennials and baby boomers when in reality it's the gen Xers who are to blame for all of society's ills.

Yep, that's so true it doesn't need to be said.  Boomers built a perfect society free from all ills and GenXers came along and ruined it all....somehow.  Now Millennials are tasked with bringing back that greatness, but GenXers are just tearing it all down, constantly.

All 5 of us.
