Yep. This is why I think the Democrats' "Let's be the party of rich white people!" strategy would be a terrible idea.

They seem to feign being the party of the poor while practically acting as the party of the elite and pursuing that.

Trump's victories in the suburbs is the most encouraging development for the GOP, whose slide in the suburbs was appearing to continue unabated.

Uh dude, the GOP continued to slide in the suburbs this election, even more than usual. Look at the swing maps.

Mind you, Trump only won college-educated whites by 4 points. It was a risky strategy by Clinton that flopped but it could easily have paid off.

and whether one likes it or not, it's a strategy the democrats will have to stick with it, because many other elements of their coälition won't be able to vote in the future

Yep. This is why I think the Democrats' "Let's be the party of rich white people!" strategy would be a terrible idea.
They seem to feign being the party of the poor while practically acting as the party of the elite and pursuing that.

Most Democrats, even here, are good people who simply believe that more progressive and egalitarian economic and social policies will help the country the most in the long run, and many feel very passionately about it.  Then, every once in a while, you get someone like Non-Swing Voter who just wants to claim every kind of superiority he or she can possibly think of over *the opposition* because he or she desires to be part of some exclusive movement that encompasses only the best types of people (and, of course, the helpless minorities they protect from the stupid rednecks).  Of course, such a party has never existed and will never exist.

I know this might sound ironic coming from me, as I have been pointing out the relative affluence of Republican voters in comparison to Democratic voters that persists today, but that doesn't mean I walk around constantly talking about how Democrats are these worthless people in my actual life, I just enjoy calling out how baseless the false sense of superiority some red avatars have gained is.
