The idea of Donald Trump going off the rails and acting like a fascist is not that completely far-fetched, so what do you guys think?

I am seriously tempted to write "homophobe" in permanent ink on Mike Pence's portrait if I see one at work in January.

Let's take this hypothetical to another level -what makes you think Trump won't fill the upper echelons of the military with his own supporters?  Bearing in mind that the rank and file are already with him.

Well, it's going to take time for him to appoint the generals and admirals.

It isn't hard to find people in the military and civilians on military installations that don't support Donald Trump.

Better hurry, then.  Tongue

Oh, I'm sure there are exceptions, but since most of the average grunts come from Trump country, it is a safe bet they reflect their communities' political allegiances.

In the event a President should be removed from office, there is a process for that.

It is called

impeachment

and is dealt with by the House of Representatives and the Senate.

Your obsession with the military taking over is something from a fiction movie.

Any coup attempt would end in humiliating disaster.

If they had wanted to have a shot, they should have infiltrated and remade the Intelligence, military, police establishments in their image, (like they have so susessfuly done to universities)

The American liberal tendency of gun control, pacifism, polarization, inflammatory identity politics, and collapsing rural support is the worst possible position to be in when preparing for a violent conflict.

So I ask where will this imaginary base of support come from?

I doubt the Military would want to overthrow a guy who would be totally happy to over fund them even more.

I think you should be talking to Michael Bay about this. This would be a great Michael Bay movie.
