Nothing in Brussels yet; I can walk to work so it wouldn't really hurt me to have some but I'd rather not have any until January since I need to fly back to Scotland for Christmas.

Light snow just started falling here an hour ago, adding to the 8 inch base from last weekend. We are supposed to get 4-8 inches by tomorrow night but the winds are going to pick up to 30 mph. Then Sat night the temps will plummet to zero, dropping well below zero throughout Sun. Tongue

Looks like winter now!  The first snowfall of the season must have started around midnight.  By the time we awoke the ground was covered with about two inches of snow.  But it's an ugly scene, and not good for driving.  The snow changed to freezing rain this morning, so there are tiny stones of ice falling on top of that snow.  My son is itching to go out and play in it so I'll let him.  I bet he'll be back in after about ten minutes of being pelted by sleet.  It's not the sort of pleasant, playful snow that we will get later in the season.

I had anticipated this so I stocked up on liquor and red meat yesterday.  No need to drive today.

A few weeks ago we had a huge snow dump of 1-2 feet here, but this has melted away again due to warm winds.

Now it's just damn cold outside with sub-zero temps each day and snow only above 1600 meters ...

And the whole next week will be clear too without any snow.

But the ski areas are all up and running already because of plenty snow cannons who produce a lot of snow in these sub-zero temps.

Yes. Last night/this morning in New Jersey. It is not surprising, however.

First snow came yesterday.  The temperature dropped to around 0oF last night, but we should be having highs in the 40's again by mid-week.

It's really cold here today, I saw -13F earlier.  It's up to nothing right now.

So far we have missed the worst of the prediction. There was maybe 4 inches of very light snow, the winds didn't pick up as much as anticipated, it stayed above zero during the daytime today, and they are now only forecasting a low tonight of -15 instead of -18.

Yes, but it may not last much past Christmas.  It's supposed to be rainy and in the 40s or 50s on Boxing Day.

Sunny and 60°F here today, boys and girls.

I took a nice bicycle ride in shorts and a t-shirt.  It won't last, apparently, but we're enjoying it today.

We were way up into the 50's yesterday after a night of consistent rain. Though it's seasonal today, the half foot of snow cover pretty much vanished overnight.

Next Monday to Wednesday a huge snow storm is predicted.

We will likely get 1-2 feet of snow here ... Smiley

Well fancy that. I was told that Tug Hill gets the most snow west of the Rockies, but no, it is Mt. Washington. Copenhagen on Tug Hill gets a mere 240 inches per year, as compared to Mr. Washington's 282.

As per usual about just everything, Hudson is in the Goldilocks zone when it comes to snow, as the linked map shows. To be exact, it is 38.5 inches.

Thankfully, it has all melted!

My friend (born in Wisconsin, grew up with me in Iowa City) is currently in Nashville for law school, and he was telling me it was hilarious to have to explain to some of the Southerners that even once it has stopped snowing, the snow just ... stays on the ground until it's warm enough for it to melt.  They could not comprehend that we have snow on the ground for several weeks, and it never leaves, hahaha.
