In September, California passed a bathroom bill that mandates all single-user bathrooms be gender-neutral. This makes sense because only one person can use it at a time. This is great news for transgender rights. It would be great if other states would pass the same law to be more inclusive. Does anyone else think this is a good idea? I would like feedback.

I don't see why not, but it seems a little cumbersome and annoying. Also what about urinals?

Other states should also pass bills like this. It makes single-user bathrooms transgender-friendly.

I've never seen single-user restrooms that weren't for everyone.

I have, especially in some small shopping centers and Old Navy stores.

Really? It's pretty rare for me to see gender-neutral single-user bathrooms.

Do whatever you want for single-user bathrooms (just call it unisex, not anything that implies more than 2 genders, though).  Multi-user bathrooms should be determined by gender at birth.

McCrory just got flushed. It doesn't matter what label unisex bathrooms have as long as the label indicates that anyone can use them.

this continues to be an absurd idea. you're trying to legally require this person

to use the female bathroom and this person

to use the male bathroom

Why can't politicians focus on creating good paying jobs instead of blabbing on about bathrooms?

This thread was a big disappointment.  I clicked here thinking it'd be about those little toilet newspapers that people always post on the wall, or the inside stall door, so you can look at them while you're urinating or having a movement.  (I'm a big fan, by the way.  I also enjoy creative graffiti.)

Instead, it's about the fact that our legislatures are arguing about where people take a dump.  We must have a remarkably advanced economy, given that our elected and well-paid representatives have enough time to devote to such mundane matters as the significance of toilet labeling.
