If I lived in America, 2020 or any 2017/2018 elections.

Since I live in Israel, the Labour Party primary in 2017, or if it's postponed, I think we have municipal elections in 2017.

My first election was 1976. I was in college and taking a political science class to fill my social science distribution requirement. It was only taught once every four years, concentrated on presidential elections and paid special attention to the electoral college. Our term paper was a state-by-state analysis due election morning and we shared results in class that day. The professor was surprised that the median response for the class was that Carter would win, but with fewer electoral votes than Kennedy's 303 in 1960. This went against the predictions of the MSM punditry (such as Time magazine) that expected a comfortable, but not landslide, EC win in the mid 300's. The class proved correct when Carter won with 297.

It's fun looking back on that map from 40 years ago. 29 of the 50 states voted this year for the party opposite to the one in my first election. It's why I don't see the parties positions or base voters as locked in stone for more than a few cycles at a time.

If I lived in the US it would be 2024 (I would miss out on 2020 by less than 3 weeks). If the voting age is reduced to 16 across the UK then it will be the 2020 general but if not it will be the 2021 Scottish Parliamentary election.

First presidential election was in 2012, in which I voted for Mitt Romney.  First midterm was in 2014, where I voted for Rick Snyder for Governor and Terri Lynn Land for Senate.  Voted 2020 in the poll by mistake.

And BTW, the last three options should be "1968," "1964," and "1960 or earlier."

2015 General Election, solid Labour vote for Jim Dowd

(For anyone who cares my first vote in Labour was the cluster of elections we had in the summer after the General Election; voted for Burnham as Leader, Watson as Deputy and Jowell as Mayor) Only one of those votes actually proved wise

2006 election. I reluctantly cast my vote for Claire McCaskill. I just voted for her because I did not like Bush. I was not as liberal back at that time and was initially a Talent supporter in 2005.

2022 (Senate, House, Governor), 2023 (Mayor), 2024 (President, Senate, House)

None are options, so I can't participate in this poll.

2002 but technically my first vote was a bond issue referendum in North Dakota. Also in 2002 I suppose.

2016, though I turned 18 less than a month after 2012. I voted for the first time in 2013.

I like how the poll choices here make no sense.  After 1988, the OP forgot how to subtract the number 4 from years....skipping 1984 completely, and then inventing presidential elections in years like 1970.

I am proud to say that the first two presidential ballots I cast were votes against Barack Obama, including my very first election in 2008.

Voted in 2016 General Election. Missed voting in 2012 because I didn't turn 18 until the following summer, and didn't vote in 2014 because I was away at college and didn't register in time for an absentee ballot.

Will be voting this November though for my first midterms.
