(Previous topic forgot Colombia. This has been rectified)

Welcome to the annual Dumbest Country Of The Year award. This award goes to the country who behaved in the stupidest, most block-headed, ignorant and imbecilic fashion for the year. Let's meet the finalists.

Austria - This country was so dumb, they had to have their presidential election twice!

Colombia - This country was so dumb, they needlessly rejected a peace deal!

United Kingdom - This country was so dumb, they thought it was a good idea to leave the EU!

United States of America - This country was so dumb, they voted in DONALD TRUMP for president.

Vote!

This thread is extremely dumb and exactly why Brexit won, why Trump was elected President and why Colombia rejected the FARC deal.

I voted Austria, though, because they aren't even real Wink

None of them really, but if I had to choose it would be the US because they elected Trump.

Austria would be 4th here, because the first runoff may have been thrown out by the Court due to bad intentions from the FPÖ ("sore losers"), but the long-term effect for democracy and vote counting/election handling will be very positive for the coming elections: The Court ruling and the FPÖ challenge exposed some flaws in the election system which were now fixed and future elections will be cleaner and fairer and better conducted than ever before.

I voted UK by the way... as of yet, the United States has no chance of breaking up.  England and Wales basically just decided not only to say f**k you to Europe.. but also to their own union.

Of course that can change.  But that'll be in the dumbest country of 2017 poll I'm sure.

That's certainly not what current Scottish polling suggests, but our Union was probably done in the long-term regardless of the June 23rd result. I actually consider 48% and 16-odd million for Remain to have been a good result for them given how unpopular the EU has been for decades here.

Anyway, Colombia is the correct answer here and would be getting far more votes if the situation there were as well-known as the UK and US situations.

Thought it said county and was getting my fingers ready to type out "Orange County, California". I'll admit, I'm a little disappointed.

I'm sure that's why all people voted brexit.

Colombia. The referendum was defeated partially because people were afraid of LGBT influence. Seriously.

And, fwiw, NI has a next to nil chance of leaving.

I'm going to have to say the US, considering the utter insanity of the 2016 Election and the level of public discourse as well.

I can see why many people would choose Colombia, but I can't help but to think the original peace deal had some troubling areas that shouldn't be ignored. The results of that referendum shouldn't be reduced to "Colombia voted for war".
