Do you think over the course of his first term, his approval rating will improve? I'd be surprised if it goes up to 60%+ at some point. I think he'll remain unpopular no matter what he does.

He may have a brief honeymoon and perhaps some short spikes, if the economy is good his approval rating could rise to 50% territory but if he does badly(so most plausible scenarios) his rating will fall to around 40% or lower.

His approval rating depends on what he achieves.

Trade and immigration reform will be big ticket items. He will need to show results with law and order as this was one of his platforms.

It's possible, but it'll take a miracle.

When the media becomes controlled by Trump's government, they'll show that he has tremendously high approval.

depends.

since his success wasn't based on anything real, i can't really say which factors would decrease his luck.

maybe "saving" some jobs which wouldn't have gone away anyway every week is enough - maybe the people get tired of it in a year.

as long as the obama economy isn't stopped, the US are still on a good path.....and a big infrastructure bill would give the country a nice sugar-high anyway.

the sadder ryan is, the better for donald i guess.

Personally speaking, his approval will go up with me if he cuts waste in govt, like the statement he made to cancel the Air Force One Boeing deal for two more planes because the cost would be 4 billion. He says Boeing was playing us and didn't deserve that much of a profit!!!

So if Trump can go after companies that do business with the govt and tell them they can't charge us $25 for a toilet tank seal, then I'm all for that kind of dealing.

As for the thread question in general, we'll see. Trump needs to actually do something positive first, and stay on that tack.

No in all likely hood Trump is gonna spend his first year fighting Paul and the rest of his own party on the economy and tariffs as they will be horrified at the thought of inflation and then losing in 2018 because of it so the only thing's he'll get done are "BUILD THE WALL" and his Muslims refugee restrictions which will only further energized liberals and libertarians who see it as big gov't overreach.

Oh, yeah. Right before the war it will be in the 90+ range.

I just hope there will be something to put into the denominator to calculate the percentages after the war.

Wars raise the numbers in the short term. 9/11 and Persian Gulf war got each of the Bushes up to 90%.

"We are not sure where he is getting that number from," said the Boeing official.

He pulled it out of his ass, Boeing official. Reality TV at its best. Trump really is a marketing genius.

Yep. It is just the post-war calculation may be mathematically impossible. And I do not like to predict numbers I may not be able to define.

Well, I guess, yeah, there will always be some US citizens in Amundsen-Scott.

I read that part, too. But of course the Boeing official is going to downplay the cost.

At any rate, if Trump can negotiate a better deal, I'll let him go for it!

The uselessness of doctrinaire Hillary-style liberals, however, is pinpointed.
