If he does that I'm all for it. I hope he's not just BS-ing. He said he doesn't like what has happened with drug prices. He wants to be able to import cheaper drugs from overseas. Shares of some drug companies stock have already fallen after he made this statement.

"Congress will need the courage to step away from the special interests and do what is right for America," Trump's campaign website said.

If he can pull this off it's a step in the right direction.

It would be a minor miracle if this happened, but he's spoken about this enough I'd think he's serious.

Price is not a fan, FWIW

Trump needs to speak less.

The Donald will soon find himself in a position where he has forgot his previous promises.

People will rapidly fatigue of Trump if he fails to even remember his prior statements.

Yes the pharmaceutical companies have taken the American people hostage with their price hikes but how is this not socialism.

I mean, I do believe that a price of snorting some coke should be similar to drinking a glass of it on US streets. I will be advocating legalizing (and even subsidizing) coke transportation through my country to help Mr. Trump in his endeavor.

I'm going to guess Trump will abandon this proposal when he realizes it's too hard, and can't be done by bribing a CEO somewhere.

Because it doesn't involve the dismantling of capitalism?

I hope you're wrong. Drug prices are out of control, and the monopoly pharmaceutical companies have on the set up is wrong wrong wrong. If Trump can't cut a deal with them then nobody can. He is the king of deal-making, right?

I don't believe anything he says, so we'll see if that's backed by action.

I'm mostly joking. I think our Entertainer-in-Chief is mostly full of BS, but if he can pull some bumbling miracles out of his hat, even out of sheer surprise to himself, what the heck. I say go for it.

Maybe he told Joe Manchin to have his daughter start reducing prices on epi-pens and other Mylan medicines.

In 2000, Trump said he wanted a European style Universal Health Care system set up in the US

He's a con artist grifter

It'd be hilarious if he got the GOP onboard with this, actually. I think he was praising Canada's system as recently as 3015

Here's a theory. Trump has disparate theories and ideas and has never thought them out (except trade and nationalism) so on these issues, he's very flexible and prone to incorporating the opinion of the last person who talked to him on the subject matter.

Ergo ... this.

When he endorses allowing Medicare to negotiate with drug companies directly, then I'll take him seriously on this issue.

He endorsed this during the primary.

Negotiation only works properly when there is a real chance that you will walk away. The government's hands are largely tied on this matter, which is why Medicare Part D is probably the worst legacy of W's presidency.

Yes, but that was back in January.  Given his history of flip-flopping, it doesn't mean much.  Will he re-emphasize that going forward?
