Executive producer (Donald's role) is not the producer. The producer runs the show. Executive producers sign their name to a project to give it visibility. An executive producer can give advice and guidance but doesn't actually have to do anything.

Yes and no. On a TV series, a show runner, who is actually in charge of day to day operations, is credited as an executive producer. However, it does stand that not all executive producers are showrunners.
