I'm not exactly a Keynesian, but austerity is more of a a political prescription than an economic one. "Raise taxes, reduce spending" is an extremely anti-intellectual position.

Sure, in that it's overly simplistic, but it's an important part of Keynesianism. Anyone who doubts that is the thing to do in good economic times is by no means a Keynesian.

Apart from his positions on trade and (somewhat) immigration, Perot was a very agreeable and centrist kinda guy, in terms of policy. in terms of personality and temperament, he was as bit of a nut but still better than Trump, and at least he actually ran a business.
