And why would he win the Plains and Mountain States? And how would he win VA? Who in NOVA would vote for him?

Yeah, now that I think about it, here's a place in the south that he would not win. Fairfax/Alexandria/Arlington is almost 100% educated folks who would never vote for a rapper. He'd do better in the somewhat less educated Loudoun and Prince William, but wouldn't get a big margin there. Assuming the white areas vote for someone else, that leaves him to work out a victory out of Roanoke , Norfolk, Portsmouth, and Richmond/Henrico. He might come close with that, but probably not enough.

NC would be an underwhelming margin for Kanye just like it was for Hillary. But the rest of the south would vote for him in a big way provided he is the only black candidate running.

Even if that were true, it seems rather unlikely that he’d be the only black running.  I mean, Booker campaigned for Clinton in IA, NH, and SC during the ’16 primaries, then spoke to both the IA and NH delegations at the convention, and said in an interview about New Hampshire:

There's even another black candidate running in LLR's scenario!

I've said multiple times that I doubt Kanye can win. My scenario was a hypothetical on how he would somehow win. I have enough faith in my party that we'll be able to vote against him when push comes to shove (if he even runs, which I doubt). But that's the only way he'd be able to do it

That also fails to explain how he wins those lily white plains states.

I'm trying to imagine what kind of people would even sign on to manage his campaign.  Would he even be able to hire people who know the system well enough to deal with ballot access issues in the primaries?

Also, it would be fun to see him up on the debate stage with all the "normal" candidates, but I don't really see that ever happening.

The Democratic Party would be pilloried for letting him onstage with the "normal" candidates.

Trump was a major international businessman.  West is a jerk, and everyone knows it.

Well if we assume that no white person is ever voting for Kanye West than he's screwed.

If Kanye runs, it'll be as a spoiler independent.

There's a better chance we will see a Trump/West ticket in 2020 than West running against Trump

Assuming he runs, gets mass ballot access and can attract that high a percentage with his mostly incoherent political talk.

By 2020 Russia has become a superpower once again. It's economy is exploding. It is the center of a new power called the Eurasian Union which includes many former SSRs + NKorea and has annexed parts of all the baltic states.

The United States under President Trump is an ally of the Russians. The 2018 midterms saw lots of bizarre results and overall GOP gains. Bernie Sanders died in 2019 after visiting a Russian Orthodox Church. The 2020 Democratic primaries are Cory Booker vs. Kanye West, but after losing NH to West a massive amount of documents are revealed by Julian Assange's WikiLeaks, detailing Booker's evil plan to build a death ray on the lunar surface as president. West wins the primaries and is personally congratulated by Russian President Putin, who also appears as a respected special guest at the first televised debate.

If my coworker is in fact onto something, he can't, performing at the inauguration isn't good optics.

Apparently he won't be running until 2024 now because he doesn't want to run against his buddy Trump.

He will run as a Republican in 2024, unless Trump doesn't run for a 2nd term.  Trump will certainly endorse him.

The day after Kanye meets with Trump, stories come out suggesting that he's a LITERAL CUCK: http://hollywoodlife.com/2016/12/11/marquette-king-response-kim-kardashian-relationship-rumors-twitter/

I'm bumping this because people are talking about him as a serious candidate again.

And worth noting, "but Trump" doesn't even make sense because Donald Trump or anyone like him has never won the Democratic nomination. And no it's not the same thing as the Republican nomination. It's like saying if a far right party has won seats in a country using PR then a similar party should have no problem winning seats in a country using FPTP.

Good analysis. I also don't think Democrats are quite as hung up on getting an "outsider" as Republicans.
