Opinion of IFB churches

Lately, I haven't heard much about them, but are Independent Fundamental Baptist churches legitimate or horrible?

This question is too broad to answer.  John MacArthur's church, while nondenominational, has often been described as IFB, and he is a great man of God who preaches the scripture boldly and with great wisdom.  On the other hand, there are heretical nuts like Steven Anderson who are nothing more than clowns.

They're a pretty diverse lot, so it's hard to develop an opinion of them overall like you would a denomination.

That is true. There are so many different ones.
