Regarding the "dementia tax" or "care recourse" ...

Here is an English paper I found on the topic:

http://ec.europa.eu/social/BlobServlet?docId=18152&langId=en

Just last month, SPÖ and ÖVP decided to scrap the care recourse for people in need of long term care, meaning that the state will no longer use the finanicial assets and real estate to finance their care - starting on Jan. 1, 2018.

All care will be paid for by the state(s) from now on, no matter if the person in need owns a few millions or has a minimum pension.

A new internal ÖVP poll (GfK, conducted in the last days) for Upper Austria:

Upper Austria is the battleground state and always votes the same way as Austria.

Peter Pilz will release a new book in September, with a stunning title for an (ex)-Green:

That's not the first time a Green wanted to wrestle the term "Heimat" (or homeland) away from the FPÖ. Van der Bellen also used it last year on campaign posters.

NEOS out with 6 election posters, all with reverse slogans (so that people take a long look and think about it):

The Mauthausen Committee is upping the pressure against the FPÖ, after they started their campaign this week.

They are out with a brochure ("Just unique cases ? The FPÖ and right-wing extremism.") which shows 60 cases of National-Socialist comments from FPÖ-politicians on all levels of politics (local, state, federal, EU) in the past 4 years:

Turnout is projected to be really high on Oct. 15, with "Research Affairs" predicting 85% turnout and the ATV Austria Trend poll between 78-84% (on a scale from 0-10, with 78% using 9-10 and 84% using 8-10).

Turnout in 2013 was 75% and in 2008 it was 79%. In 2002 during the ÖVP landslide it was actually 84%.

Today, the FPÖ and Greens will present their new election posters and the Interior Ministry will announce which parties have officially made it onto the ballot after checking all signatures.

The FPÖ also has an ad out, showing the struggling Austrian biker who gets overtaken by the Swiss, German etc. bikers:

That's Ulrike Lunacek, the frontrunner.

She may look like a man, but she's actually a lesbian woman.

BTW: did you already see the new KFC-Strache on their posters ?

Here's a sample ballot for my electoral district (ballots are printed in the next 2 weeks and if people are requesting a postal ballot, they are going to be sent out in Mid-September):

The 5th column is empty because the Team Stronach is not running anymore.

Update about Kurz and the ÖVP:

According to the ORF, Kurz will launch the party program next week (September 1), followed by a huge poster campaign. There will be 9 motives, but only 1 of them with Kurz. On the other 8, Austrian voters will be shown including their demands or wishes to politicians. There will be no ÖVP logo on the campaign posters (which is funny, because "ÖVP" will appear on the ballots after all -> see my sample ballot above).

Here's a glimpse at the first Kurz campaign posters (they will have "Kurz 2017" on them instead of the ÖVP-logo):

These are very small ones, the big ones will be about 5 meters (near traffic circles).

Core message: "It's time."

(from right to left)

... "to defend our own values".

... "to look after our Austria again."

... "to have more in our pockets again."

... "to lower the taxes."

... "to tell the truth again."

... "to do more for the hard-working."

(I cannot read the other 2 on the left)

---

There's also a 9th one with Kurz on it.

Kurz remains far ahead in two new polls today:

Research Affairs/Ö24 (August 21-23)

OGM/APA trust index (balance of "have trust in" minus "have no trust in")

In the new Profil poll, the Greens are heading off the cliff:

33% ÖVP
25% SPÖ
23% FPÖ
  6% NEOS
  6% PILZ
  4% Greens
  3% Others

85% say the SPÖ's Silberstein scandal has no impact on their vote choice.

The ÖVP was the last to submit their federal list for the election.

Among the 100 people on this list, 50 are men and 50 women - the first time ever that the ÖVP has reached gender parity.

The next parliament will definitely have more women, with ÖVP, NEOS, Greens and Pilz all expected to reach 50%. The SPÖ will have ca. 40-45% and the FPÖ will be dead last with around 15-20% women.

The first 20 names on the ÖVP list:

1. Sebastian Kurz, Bundesminister
2. Elisabeth Köstinger, Europaabgeordnete
3. Josef Moser, Jurist
4. Gabriela Schwarz, Journalistin
5. Efgani Dönmez, Selbstständiger
6. Maria Großbauer, Selbstständige
7. Rudolf Taschner, a.o. Univ.-Prof.
8. Tanja Graf, Unternehmerin
9. Karl Mahrer, Polizeibeamter
10. Kira Grünberg, Angestellte
11. Martin Engelberg, Psychoanalytiker
12. Juliane Bogner-Strauß, Professorin
13. Alois Rosenberger, Direktor
14. Martina Ess, Moderatorin
15. Werner Saxinger, Arzt
16. Petra Steinlechner, BHS-Lehrerin
17. Andreas Herz, Selbstständiger
18. Monika Eisenhuber, Unternehmerin
19. Andreas Hager, Tischlermeister
20. Renate Schütz, Soziologin
