Look.  The video is amazing, and I was very jealous.  It is something Canada doesn't have.  Why do you find it a threat?  What is so disturbing in being proud of who you are and what you believe in?

Oh No!  Some of our Soldiers are Christians!  And make a public show of it when back in the States!  Private citizens abusing their religious insitutions by showing American Flags and having troops speaking there!  Oh Noes!

I mean, I personally find it distasteful, brash, and overbearing, but that's just me.  To extrapolate a Holy War conspiracy from the actions of private citizens who may or may not think one is necessary is utterly fallacious, and makes as much sense as trying to extrapolate US policy from the preacher who said 'the Koran should be flushed.'  There are Conservative Evangelist Christian Republicans, whodathunkit.  Nice strawman there.

Why I spent the time and effort to refute his arguments at 3am, I don't know.  Besides, I'm sure that his ravings don't reflect more than 10% of Democrats, anyway...

That's not what's disturbing, what is disturbing is who these people are and what they believe in.

Luckily, most Americans don't read dailykos.  Unluckily, most Americans don't read the crazy conservative blogs either Smiley

Don't you mean "Luckily, most Americans don't read the crazy conservative blogs either," or are you hoping they did?

Unluckily meaning I hope they did.

The problem with the left is that our crazies are both louder and hold more power than the crazies on the right.  On the right, the party was and still is dominated by business interests.  Some crazy conservative comments get out there, but the worst Republican activists can do is go outside with a cross or something, and most Americans have no problem with that.

On the left, hippies are out there burning flags and making stupid comments in interviews with reporters.  Constantly repeating "no blood for oil" will not bring our troops back, and only gives the impression that we don't support the troops.  Add to this a very visible contempt for religion (ie. opebo), the crazies on the left turn off far more people than those of the right.
