I don't see how this idea makes much sense. Northern Virginia is democratic because it has the most government employees per capita of anywhere in America. These are people who have a much higher opinion of the government operating things than the average american does. They are likely not as "scared" of socialized medicine or huge public works projects as, say, a private sector philly suburban voter.

Exactly, which is why your title is absurd. "Economic liberals" are the ones that are pushing to privatize everything.

Because they are Tories, who vote Democratic because the Republicans are uncultured and hostile to them, which they weren't in, say, 2004 when Bush won NOVA.
