Nah. I was a decent defensive tackle before an injury to my lower half ended my career after one season. I was a far better coach than player though.

Maybe by people who were trying to be overly nice, but otherwise no. I'm not an athletic person.

When I still played sports, I was kind of mentally flaky. I've also always been super skinny with no muscles.

Nowadays, I'm sure I could play on my high school's baseball team if I cared enough, but I don't really. My only advantage is that I'm above-average height and speed.

My body isn't very athletic. I weigh about 145 pounds (a lifetime high) and am about 5'11. I'd rather sit on my ass and argue politics here while puffing on a cigarette than spend my day in a pool going back and forth. A good life is one that is not too short, not too long, and very fun. If that means heart attack at aged 76, then fine, beam me up scotty!
~145 pounds, ~5'10-5'11? That's around my build. However, IIRC you're about ten years older than me or more.

Yes, i am a great swimmer now.

As a runner, i had the slow gene, so middle distance was my only hope.

I was a good cross-country runner in my prime. My best individual athletic achievement in high school was finishing 2nd in an invite with 9 teams once. I also did competitive swimming for 10 years but was thoroughly mediocre at it.

But, as everyone knows, the most important measure is that I was picked first once in gym class. Smiley

Voted somewhat, as I consider athleticism to be more of an all-around marker and I'm not stellar at sports with a ball.

Nope, never.  I have a natural build for it and could have become a great athlete if I chose to, but that was never where my heart lay.  I was always the kid in gym class who always moped around while everyone else did whatever activity was there for the day.

I won about four trophies playing football (soccer) at my local sports centre when I was little. Other than that.

Me too. I always hated PE, because it forced me to participate in team activities where whatever role I could have was usually sidelined due to pre-existing social relations. Teams work when the parties who are involved get along and have a common goal. They don't work when a few show-off dicks take over the game and relegate the other kids to the back. Most of my friends, and indeed most of the class (in Middle School at least-less so in High School) used to let these people make fools of themselves while we lingered and talked to one another.

This one time, in the first grade, both classes (1A and 1B) had a kickball game. By the end of the first ten minutes, most of the entire class gave up and we all just started lingering on the field. My first grade teacher, who was the kindest, sweetest, most child-friendly woman on the planet, had a rare freakout and our two classes went on "strike" despite our total childlike ignorance of the concept. She started shrieking and referred to the first few kids as "babies" which actually led to almost everyone quitting. The next day she actually apologized and broke down in tears. I don't see what she did wrong or why she should have apologized to a bunch of seven year olds who were out of order, but then again, the fact that she did so was probably the reason why most of the friends I still know from those years consider her to be one of our best teachers during elementary school. She was the cat's pajamas.
