Larry Hogan is safe. Let us not waste any time on this race.

Aren't you the guy who said that Warren isn't safe in MA because "muh trump got elected anything can happen"? Moron.
Anything can happen. The same was said in Maryland before Hogan won until the last 2 weeks.

Hogan obviously starts off as the favorite, but if there is any state were Trump will be a drag on any Republican, it will be Maryland.

Selfishly, hoping that Perez loses his bid for DNC chair and runs for Governor. I think his connections to Obama world would be a major asset to possibly knocking off Hogan.

I plan to help campaign for Hogan as if we're starting 10 points behind. In a state like Maryland no Republican is a safe race (outside Carroll and Garrett Counties)

That being said he's done a great job to set himself up, Republicans always have much better mid-term turn out, and nobody knows who Tom Perez is, especially outside the beltway.

I'd add that the Obamas and Clintons campaigned hard for Brown and it didn't help one bit

Didn't they say Bob Earlich was safe and the prohibitive favorite in 2006?

There is a big difference between now and 2006.  There is no 800 pound gorilla like O'Malley ready to take the plunge.  O'Malley was the very popular mayor of Baltimore.  Now, it looks like all the top tier candidates like Ruppersberger, Leggett, Franchot, and Gansler are afraid to run.  They feel that it just isn't work the risk of losing to Hogan.  If O'Malley decides to run for office again, he will want to go for a sure thing.  There is a good chance Cardin retires, so O'Malley will probably run for Senate as opposed to Governor again.  Hogan will likely end up with a second tier challenger.

I hope my state has learned its lesson from Martin O'Malley's terrible governorship and not put him in the Senate.

Larry Hogan now has an approval rating of 74% right now, along with a 66% approval rating among Democrats, an 81% approval among independents, and 86% among Republicans
Insane. I'd move this race to solid R, at the moment.

People keep comparing Hogan to Ehrlich.  Ehrlich never had an approval rating of 74%.  I think the highest approval rating Ehrlich ever had was around 63%.  On election day 2006 when he lost he was in the mid to high 50's.  I think Hogan's approval ratings will scare away all top tier candidates like Ruppersberger and Franchot and Leggett.

Hogan is almost certainly a pretty big favorite for now - We're still almost two years out.

I thought it was about time Hogan would slip up. I'll reserve judgment on whether this will affect him, but I have to say I'm disappointed.

Hogan needs to be running away from Trump as much as possible.

People asking Hogan to denounce Trump's travel ban are being blocked on Facebook.
