Opinion of the year 2016

A very good year for me as far as personal developments, but so utterly f**ked up politically (and on so many levels) it's mindblowing.

Personally, a year that started out great, only to end up being a massive disappointment.

Politically, easily the worst year of the 21st century. Trump pls deport.

One of my better years personally, horrendous politically.

Decent all around. Great year in sports (especially baseball with the Cubs winning the WS and my boy Trout winning the AL MVP), a mediocre year in film although there were some highlights, interesting world events, exciting developments in space travel... Some exciting developments for me personally.

Politics was fabulous: two interesting and tightly contested presidential primaries followed by an realigning general election that dramatically overthrew a potential dynasty. Not much more you can ask than that.

For the personal aspect, I'm not sure. Overall I have a couple things going on that alone could easily make this year and the next the worst, but this year has started to feel a lot better recently (election notwithstanding). I'm not going to vote for either one.


Politically it's a disaster. HY doesn't even begin to capture the magnitude, either. The election result aside, the animosity Trump has raised and the complete breakdown of any semblance of respectable politicking is extremely disheartening.

Not so bad.  Health has been good.  Finally, a year where I didn't lose any family members to the grim reaper....hope that keeps up in 2017.  Bought out another small company in the same field I'm in so business is better (THANKS OBAMA!).  I need more vacation time in 2017.......5 days in 2016 wasn't enough.   I don't give a rat's ass about which celebrities died, as cold as that sounds.

Awful all-around. Slightly better politically since California gave the middle finger to world trends.

Moved 3 times, got in a car accident, forced back into the same dead-end job I wanted out of (which btw, cut my hours in half), current car is a junk car which I had to rescue from legal hell, all of the above forced me to put Grad School on the backburner, lost most of my savings, not even going into the mental deterioration of my folks. I got sick on my freaking birthday for crying out loud!

Wish I could time machine back to last year, when I just finished my last exams. None of this existential dread.

Personally it's been meh but politically I don't think I'll ever know a better year.

Bad year personally, but not the worst. Had a lot of personal problems that I'm still swimming out of. Fam had some hard times too, personal stuff, and it's been hard to take it all in.

Politically, my party won, so yay, but the political discourse in this country has gotten even more negative and even more frustrating. I also would've preferred a Republican president not named Donald Trump but whatevs. Lean HP politically.

     Mixed year for me personally (voted HY on balance), though less dramatically so than 2015. Bigly year politically.

Personally, some things have happened that were really upsetting at the time (or in some cases still are) but that might turn out to be for the best in the end. Voted HY because in the moment I'm feeling kind of crummy about it.

Politically, I can't begin to describe how HY it's been.
