Anyway, this puts to rest the notion that the trend in rising gun sales as some sort of divine punishment for electing a Democrat president, because "Obama is a great salesman" as opposed to just hobbyists buying more.

Meh. While I don't really agree with liberals on politics or philosophy, I don't think they are inherently more likely to commit violent crime with their guns than conservatives are. Plus rapists and other criminals prey on liberals and conservatives alike. If enough liberals buy guns and learn about them they will be less likely to make as many ignorantly cringeworthy derpy comments and more likely to accept that the 2nd Amendment really is part of the Bill of Rights.

Well yeah, someone who owns a gun is more likely to accidentally shoot themselves than someone who has ever held a gun. Shocker. That doesn't mean guns are bad.

Then there are people like me who have histories of suicidal ideation and will never own a gun just to make certain there's no temptation.

This is only a bad thing if the lefties buying guns are like assholes buying pets and they don't properly take care of their sh**t (or if lefties actually are more violent than non-lefties....doubtful, but plausible) then we'll have problems with stolen guns and kids getting a hold of them and what not.

I wouldn't be surprised if a number of some small or relatively considerable acts of violence by Sepratists, Socialists, or Anarchists gets blamed on all Democrats if Trump is both far right and not a total failure. It would be ironic because since Vietnam, all you have heard about were Black Church Burnings, things like Pulse, and attacks on abortion clinics. There will probably be a rise in crime during Trump's presidency. I think "Leftists militias" will be the major trending topic on Fox or Brietbart by August or September. I'm calling it.


In short, this is a needed development but will have a major backlash.
