How are you celebrating this (if at all) ?

I'm invited at my brother's (like every year) and today we'll have a delicious turkey to eat. (Yes, Christmas in Austria is already today !!!)

I have 50€ and chocolate for my 9-year old nephew and wine for my brother/his girlfriend.

My mum will get a 50€ dining voucher for a top restaurant in the area where she likes to eat and she'll get a 50€ massage voucher and chocolate.

I'll visit my sister and my nieces on Monday (they have their own small thing today). Besides, she's living a bit further away.

My oldest brother has to work today, but I will meet him some point next weekend or so.

Krampus has nothing to do with Christmas really.

Krampus is the companion of St. Nicholas (December 6).

Despite my best efforts to put the holiday on ignore, I don't wholly succeed in that. So the odd present, and various holiday dinners. The latter I actually enjoy, but just because the eats and socializing are good.

American Dad told me Krampus had everything to do with Christmas. You think I'd believe you instead ? Roll Eyes

Merry Christmas people.

Some great discussions this year, and certainly learnt a lot of detail about US politics on these forums.

As Australians, we get Christmas 12 hours early.

I know what you're all thinking.....

Best wishes to you and your loved ones.

Merry Christmas (Eve)!  Just got home from church, poured a glass of wine and It's A Wonderful Life is starting, not much to complain about!

Hope everyone has a great holiday.

Merry Christmas! Having a picture-perfect Christmas morning with my parents--several inches of snow on the ground here in Greenfield, Massachusetts!--and had a pretty great Christmas Eve too. We watched It's a Wonderful Life and A Charlie Brown Christmas; I already saw my third must-see Christmas movie, The Muppet Christmas Carol, a few weeks ago. Just about to head off to church (normally I go at eleven pm on Christmas Eve but I felt really exhausted by that point last night for some reason).

Merry Christmas to all!

It didn't start out merry.  There was a bit of an argument regarding the breakfast menu at about 8am, shortly after we awoke, but it turned out merry later after the contretemps was settled.  Gifts have been exchanged.  I received a selection of seven hot sauces, some chocolates, a shirt, a necktie, and a pair of black leggings, like yoga pants.  Sounds silly, but they're needed and appreciated.  I'm wearing them now.

My wife received a wristwatch, some strawberry bon-bons, some leggings, not too different than mine--weird, we almost never get each other the same thing, but I guess as we get older the chill has affected us more--a framed photo of my son, and a set of ceramic serving platters.

The boy scored big.  Lots of electronics and big toys.  Too many to name.  My favorite item is not an electronic toy, but rather the USS Enterprise in MegaBloks.  Yes, you read that right:  MegaBloks.  Over the years we have amassed a huge LEGO collection, and I'd been searching for the Enterprise in LEGO for years, but I learned at Brick Fest last May that MegaBloks will get the Star Trek contract.  The serious Bricknerds tell me that it's okay.  They all say that MegaBloks are not quite as good as Legos, but much better than K'nex and much, much better than KRE-O.  Apparently that's the industry standard:  LEGO>MegaBloks>K'nex>KRE-O.  Anyway, after he opened it I could see that the MegaBloks are well made and will provide sufficient structural integrity.  It has 3098 pieces!  It's the largest (and most expensive!) block set we've ever bought.  When my son opened the package he said, "I'm glad we're living on an M-class planet, because it'd be hard to build it elsewhere."  It says 14+ but I think he'll will be able to handle it.  He has a knack for engineering.  I'm hoping that he lets me play with it, and that when it's all finished he'll let me spray it with some sort of bonding spray and hang it in my office.  I've got the perfect spot all picked out.

Just now my wife put a big lamb leg in the oven.  That will be for lunch.  She had marinated it overnight in black pepper, cumin, ginger, and soy sauce.  We also marinated a duck overnight.  That will be roasted for dinner.  I have a bottle of proseco and a couple of bottles of Nero d'Avila.  I'm not sure yet which we will open first.  Maybe both.  I'll finish my coffee first.

Her sister's husband and son will come tomorrow.  (Her sister has to work, but the rest of the family is off so they'll come and spend the night.)  My son only has two cousins--my sisters son and my wife's sister's son--and he hasn't seen either of them for many years.  It will be good to see them.

Right now the boy is glued to the screen.  He's playing Minecraft.  After playing the free version for a year he got bored with it so we finally got him the version you have to pay for.  It seems very addictive.  Luckily I made him play his Christmas repertoire on piano this morning before he sat down in front of the computer because I can see it'll be hard to tear him away from it.  It's okay, though.  He's on holiday from school.  Might as well let him get all this gaming out of his system before school begins.

It's shaping up to be a very merry Christmas.

Cheers!

I decided to move my post from Update to a now more relevant thread:

I didn't want to waste precious server space on le server de Leip, so I have come here to appropriate approximately one (1) seasons greetings: Merry Christmas and happy holidays everyone Smiley

I consider a year's worth of often intriguing (if not sometimes frustrating) political discussions with all of you a Christmas present worthy of mention. I hope you all have wonderful holidays!
