They're both ing fascists and anyone who thinks there's one iota of difference between them ideologically is deluding themselves.

That said, Trump is also a). mentally unhinged b). in position of our nuclear codes. Having Pence as President probably marginally increases humanity's chance of surviving and as such I don't really see a problem with wishing he was the fascist piece of sh**t with the nuclear codes.

Not a good one,...trump's likelihood of failure is the only hope for 2020.

Not that I have any major problems with Pence, HP. Even if you got rid of him, Ryan becomes POTUS. And if you got rid of Ryan, you've got Hatch. And if you get rid of him, you have Trump's overwhelmingly GOP Cabinet to go through. Impeaching someone just to get them replaced with someone you like is a futile effort.

Pence's social views are awful but he's way more competent and controlled.

I think they are people worried about the dangers of a Trump presidency in regards to foreign affairs. So with good reason they would prefer someone they view as awful replacing him because they know at least Pence wouldnt start a nuclear armegeddeon, something one cannot be sure about with Trump.

And the US isnt Indiana, not like Pence will be able to do a lot to harm LBGT rights compared to what Trump xould do to seriously threaten the saftey of the US. So how do I think about someone who places the safety of the nation and world.over some small threat to LBGT rights? Sane.

Pence would keep elections around long enough to get rid of him.

Pence's foreign policy goals are largely the same as Donald Trump's, and Pence's domestic policy goals are arguably worse. so no, it isn't just about LGBT rights.

Pence's approach of cut taxes, raise spending(only military or for compromises to get fiscally stupid Democrats to vote for welfare increases and tax cuts) approach is only good compared to his disastrous social policies. Even his support for repeal of federal anti-discrimination measures is limited to LGBT people only, and it is because of his personal bigotry.

Pence's social views are awful but he's way more competent and controlled.

Which is why he's less desirable. Pence's agenda is equally as bad (if not more so) for the poor and minorities, and the fact that he's semi-competent means that he'd be more likely to implement such an agenda successfully.

A good comparison to Pence is Theresa May. Various naive Remainers were glad that she (rather than Boris Johnson) became prime minister as she is supposedly a sane and competent individual. As it has turned out, we are more likely to have a Hard Brexit under her than we would have done under Johnson.

I agree, gays should be as concerned about all the other terrible policy prescriptions that Pence pushes as well.

It would make sense or no sense depending on what issues they care about.  It's just like the fact that some conservatives prefer Pence to Trump and some prefer the reverse.

I'm sorry, but while Pence may be just as bad on policy, I would much rather have him in the Situation Room making the calls to defend our nation instead of the f-ing baby that is our president elect.

If you're socially libertarian or liberal, you do not want Uncle Mike.

I hope Pence can bring a little stability to Trump's inner circle, but we'll see.

I'm socially liberal, but since Trump promises to appoint conservative judges, there's no functional difference between him and Pence. I'd rather have Pence, since I'm closer to Pence on trade and foreign policy.
