Political party ideologies

VVD: Conservative liberalism (center-right)
PvdA: Social democracy (center-left)
SP: Social democracy, Democratic socialism, Leftwing populism, Soft euroscepticism (left-wing)
CDA: Christian democracy (center)
PVV: Nationalism, Rightwing populism, Anti-Islam, Anti-Immigration, Euroscepticism (right-wing)
D66: Social liberalism, Pro-Europeanism (center)
CU: Christian democracy, Social conservatism, Soft euroscepticism (center-right)
GL: Green politics, Progressivism, Green liberalism (center-left)
SGP: Christian right, Social conservatism, Theocracy (right-wing)
PvdD: Animal liberation, Environmentalism, Soft euroscepticism (left-wing)
50PLUS: Pensioners' interests, Populism (center)

My vote is definitely for GreenLeft (GL), but I would also support the Socialist Party (SP) and the Labour Party (PvdA).

DENK is a shell party set up by two ex PvdA MPs who didn't support recognising the Armenian genocide. They're polling about one to two percent, drawing support from Turks, and I consider them hilarious dipshetes.

Anyway of the parties elected last time round: Labour are ridiculous sell outs that make Irish Labour look principled, SP are ridiculously culty ex Maoists led by an idiot, 50Plus are a waste of space, PVV is literally a fake party that Wilders uses to massage his ego, VVD is grim, CDA is the political equivalent of an appendix, SGP and CU are amusing novelties, D66 are horrible west Ukrainians etc. Normally GL but I would protest vote PvdD at all chances.

Pity the Dutch - seven hundred parties, none of them particularly good.

I figured that. But Trump is even less openly bigoted than Wilders and the PVV. You can't make any excuse to justify supporting them aside from bigotry, unlike you technically could with Trump.

It's now up to 6/13 at this moment for PVV. This is pretty disturbing. PVV doesn't even attempt to mask their views, openly calling for fewer Moroccans, the Quran to be outlawed like Mein Kampf, the party's leader being like a cultish figure who's constantly in court for hate speech. Even Marine Le Pen's FN would be better.

Geert is absolutely fabulous, but I don't think I could vote for the party. I know very little about Dutch politics, so I just went CDA (i.e. don't care) That's fine.

VVD

It's good to see that atlas also hates the PvdA. Last election they got 38 seats (25% of the vote) but they entered an impopular coalition with the VVD and now they are polling at 10-12 seats (7-8%).

The last peil.nl poll:

PVV 36
VVD 23
CDA 14
D66 14
GroenLinks 14
SP 11
50PLUS 11
PvdA 10
ChristenUnie 5
PvdD 5
SGP 3
DENK 3
VNL 1 (small right-wing eurosceptic party that tries to occupy the mythical space between the centre-right VVD and the far-right PVV)

76 seats are needed for a majority and nobody wants to work with the PVV. Good luck.

From your description, D66 by far. I'm a huge supporter of keeping the EU intact, and of social liberalism. Then it's probably between PVV and PvdA.

Dutch politics is like Dutch television: an endlessly variety of options, all of which are terrible.

I like how you can't get a religious right party into parliament in most of the west, but then the Netherlands had like five different Calvinist parties to choose from up until recently.

I guess I would be an SGP-CU swing voter.
