I used to be indifferent or maybe oppose a decade (supported civil unions) back till I had more exposure when a few friends came out. I want to see them happy in a decent world where people aren't homophobic - Gay people are human beings too & I don't want to see them suffer!

2008, during the Prop 8 debate.

Theologically, I started reading historical criticisms of the "clobber verses" and that helped me to support it from that viewpoint also.  Matthew Vines' viral video helped solidify my Biblical support for SSM.

Probably around 2010 or so. Not that I ever opposed it, I just didn't have an opinion for a while.

Not sure if I ever opposed it, but I certainly formed an opinion in high school (early 2000s), a few years before it was legalized here.

I don't. But I'm growing more comfortable with the idea of it.

Out of interest- what do you mean 'comfortable'? I was sure that comfortable, aka personally fine with it, comes after realizing that it's a basic freedom but personally opposing.

Started supporting civil unions some time in high school (between 2007 and 2011), never supported gay marriage.

I personally believe marriage is traditionally between a man and a woman, but people should be allowed to have civil unions.

I think it's more of being "comfortable" with the idea of homosexuality and bisexuality (etc...etc...) being normal things in society. That's how it was more me.

I accepted the normality of LGBT ---> then I started to accept I was bisexual or gay --> started to support limited LGBT protections ---> started identifying as bisexual ---> started to fully support LGBT equality.

I think for some straight people it's like going from the first to the last step and its takes more time for them to understand/accept it since they aren't LGBT and are not going through the same learning cycle that LGBT people or are.

Most moderate/Liberal straight supporters of LGBT are more easily able to sympathize with LGBT issues and problems and thus are more likely to go from first step to last step without much issue.

As long as I remember. Probably around the time Andrew Sullivan started pushing the idea. There was a time period when radical gays screamed about how heteronormative gay marriage was and how people like Andrew Sullivan (and me?) were fascists.

I certainly can't remember a time I was ever opposed to the idea. In my elementary school years I grew up with people who called everything they didn't like gay, and I (regretfully) went along with it, but once I actually thought about in my early teens, I realized that there was nothing wrong with it.

I never specifically opposed it, started supporting it in the mid 2000s when I became aware of the issue, politics in general, and my own bisexuality.

I'm gay and I've never opposed it.
I've been opposed to the courts legalizing it starting about 1990 or so.
It should have become legal in every state because of voters and/or legislators legalizing it, not because of the courts.

I first found out about gay marriage and homosexuality in 2008.  The concept has never occurred to me until I saw prop 8 stuff on TV.  I was very opposed to it but in recent years, I have accepted the ruling and don't really care that much if it is legal or not.  Personally, I view marriage as  between a man and a woman and that won't ever change, but as long I am not forced to do anything against my beliefs, I  couldn't care less who you marry, it doesn't' affect me. On other lgbt issues, I don't believe the government should prevent gay people from adopting children, and we should have laws preventing discrimination against lgbt individuals in government employment, state-run adoption agencies, government services, public housing, and public education.  No matter your views on gay marriage and homosexuality, I hope we can all agree the government shouldn't discriminate.
On private sector non-discrimination laws, it is a different story.  I had never given much thought to whether a business could refuse service because the concept of the government  telling a private business who to serve never occurred to me.   I just assumed if you didn't want to serve or hire someone, you could just refuse and nothing would happen.  When I found out about bakers being forced to provide services to gay weddings, I was shocked and instantly supported their right to refuse service.  Back than I was a traditional conservative.  Recently, I have become much more socially liberal and libertarian and have decided that I oppose most anti discrimination laws in the private sector.  The only exceptions are for laws applying to utilities and mega corporations like Wal-Mart, where discrimination could have a huge impact.   If I were in congress, I would not be anti LGBT and wouldn't try to roll back any gay rights we have currently, but I would oppose anti discrimination laws that apply to the private sector such as ENDA or the "Equality Act."  In order for me to support them, they would have to be amended do they  nly applied to the public sector and possibly very large corporations as well, but this would likely be unnecessary since most big companies are pro gay.

I was more of a social conservative up until the time of Trumps announcement but was not as interested in politics as compared to now. Since then however I have took a very Libertarian outlook to civil liberties and that includes Gay marriage.

I'm still opposed to same-sex marriage. I believe that gay couples, through civil unions, should receive the same legal and economic benefits of traditional marriages, but the term marriage should be reserved for its proper use - between a man and a woman.

Supported Civil Unions when I found out about the concept which was around 2006 or 2007. Support for Gay Marriage came during my sophomore year of High School (2008-2009 School Year). I came to supporting Transgender rights in 2009 when my Dad came out as transgender (which was honestly when I was introduced to transgender/gender identity issues).
