No... he was pro-death. Enthusiastically pro-death. That's why he went to prison.

Why not a conservative Republican, seeing as you are one?

I meant that he was against abortion.

If I'm not wrong, I believe Ryan was pro-choice and Poshard was pro-life (it was still possible to be a pro-choice Republican or pro-life Democrat back then), and Ryan's pro-choice stance is basically what got him elected if I'm not wrong.

Poshard, enthusiastically. He's the kind of Democrat I can support.

Should be enough of a reason not to vote for Poshard tbh

Although I drew some flack in this thread, I ponder if I would have drawn the same flack had Ryan not gone to prison. I was, of course, giving my opinion as if I did not have hindsight. I don't think many would hold their Ryan votes with the hindsight that he went to prison.

You talk is if it were a minor detail, the consequence of a trifling peccadillo, barely worth bothering about. Which is really not the case at all.

Except that the point of the thread is supposed to be re: who you would have supported in the election. Obviously, the election occurred before his arrest.

It is perfectly possible to be either right now.

Oh sure I agree, but it would be very difficult to be elected now as a pro-choice Republican outside of New England or as a pro-life Democrat outside of Louisiana, West Virginia and Kentucky, although it definitely isn't impossible.

The one who believes in climate change, which in this case, is the Republican.

Ryan with no hindsight. Ran and largely governed as an actual liberal Republican who’s closer to my views, especially on social issues.

Why not Poshard? He appealed to downstate voters, whom you need in a sense on economic issues

Poshard, very reluctantly, with hindsight. Don't know what I'd do without.
