'AmazingMaps' Twitter feed has a lot of these neat maps. https://twitter.com/Amazing_Maps

Here's another interesting one. The U.S. holds 1/3 of all the world's wealth.

Eyeballing it is tricky.

Safe Clinton:

Red Canada in CA.
Red Canada in the NE.
Blue Canada in the NE.

Probably Clinton, but I can't tell for sure:

Yellow Canada in Midwest: Chicago probably outweighs everything else.
Yellow Canada in West: I think that the West Coast + Colorado means that that's a Clinton state.

Probably Trump:

Red Canada in Midwest.

Definitely Trump:

White Canada in Southwest.
Blue Canada in Southeast.
Red Canada in Southeast (South Carolina pushes it over, though it's a closer state than one might imagine).

How about the White Canada in the East? I would say it's definitely Trump.

Looking at the map, I'm puzzled. I started trying to line up counties, but I noticed that there was no AK or HI on the map. I looked online and saw that it's been around at least 3 years, but I couldn't find the original source.

Then I noticed something else strange. The population of Canada in 2011 (34.3 M) is 11.1% of the population of the US in 2010 (308.7 M). That's 1/9, but there are 10 Canadas in the map. The one year difference between censuses doesn't explain that big of a difference.

So I looked back at the census series for the two countries, and one has to go back to the 1950's to find a time when Canada was 10% of the US population. In 1950/51 it was 9.3% and in 1960/61 it was 10.2%. Could it be that this image comes from a map made in the 1950's before AK and HI were admitted as states?

So here's my fix:

The US (including DC) is divided into 9 areas of equal population. Each area has 34.305 (+/- 0.001) million people based on 2010 Census data. That population is close to the 2011 Canadian census of 34.343 million. The divisions are based on the older split of the US into 10 areas each matching the population of Canada.

These mappies are sufficiently bizarre that they demand a home on the Board hosted by our ultimate specialist in the same, so this thread will be moved there by a chap with the power to do so. Thanks.

Clinton wins orange, white, brown, blue, and green. Trump wins everything else.

White is the real swing area here. As shown Clinton would win white by only 12K votes out of over 13M cast. That's less than 0.1%. Interestingly if HI was placed in the blue Canada, or all of Sacramento metro was together in the white extending blue up the coast, Trump wins by 15-30K votes.

There should be 343 ridings of 100,000 each in each Canada.

Who would be the prime minister of each of the Canada's, Trudeau, Harper, or Mulcair. Would BQ win any ridings in Louisiana or New England?
