Voted for the second option. I suspect it's the result of heavy ironic usage causing the word to seep into my natural vocabulary.

Yes, but I use "brah/bruh" ironically. "Bro" is completely normal for me alongside intonation-variant "dude," the emphatic use of "totally," and the 8+ uses of "like." I'm practically a Californian speaker even though I've never been there.

No. Its too good for being patronizing and condescending(and in general ironic) to use seriously.

I have NZ friends at work, so saying 'bro' is mandatory in the conversation.

Like this:

To learn to be able to speak with a "NZ maori accent" at work gets you a lot of comedy points.

sure, but less than "dude" and WAY less than "man".  We're talking like a man/dude/bro ratio of 80/17/3.

My brother has called me bro for years. Sometimes I return the favor, and it's certainly unironic in that usage.

Unfortunately. I still use "dude", "man", "friend", and "amigo" more often

Lol, yeah, no shame.  Though, when I really think about it, I guess I am saying it SOMEWHAT ironically.

Distinguishing between irony and sincerity among certain groups of people in the context of casual interpersonal interactions would be hopeless.

I've used "dude" and "man" unironically, but saying "bro" ironically is just too much fun.

Oh you'd be surprised how many people I have met actually offended by this.
