It's not as if the Democrats had a shot at winning that Senate seat anyway.

I don't know if this counts but the worst politician is easily Anthony Weiner. He managed to lose himself and/or his party a House seat, two mayoral chances, and the presidency... and he only campaigned in one of those elections.

What was the other mayoral chance?

Also don't forget all the countless downballot races that were lost due to him.

Donald Trump.  Most terrible candidates however, don't receive outright aid from our enemies.

If Eric Cantor is on here, why is Michael Castle (losing to O'Donnell) not? or Tom Foley (Foley was the first Speaker of the House since 1862 to be defeated in a re-election campaign)? And what about Dick Lugar? Bob Bennett (RIP)?

Oh yeah, Bob Bennett, an incumbent United States Senator of 18 years who lost because he got 3rd place at the party convention, and only the top 2 candidates are on the primary ballot.

Todd Akin. Massive HP. However, actually you could add the Trumpster to the list.

Unfortunately, his debate performance has caused the most lasting impression.

I guess it was the debate performance I was thinking about.  I was relatively young at the time, and had not heard much of Stockdale, and in any case was not under any circumstances enamored of Ross Perot, but what I remember most about Stockdale was his performance at the debate.

Note; I voted Coakley. How could she lose to a Republican in a state in which Obama won 60% of the vote against their own former GOP governor?
