I consider myself to be a moderate social conservative, and the only Democrat I can think of who is to the right of me on social issues is Famous Mortimer. Yes, there are a number of pro-life Democrats here, but there are plenty of pro-life Democrats and pro-choice Republicans in the real world who are not activists and not very ideological.

It would at least imply opposition to a complete gun ban and also adherence to certain norms that might put one outside of the "ideal liberal Democrat" stereotype.

I disagree. You can support banning guns, but think that in a place that allows guns, it's a good idea to keep some around.
