One issue of course is getting to where my girlfriend lives, since that would require traveling through a Trump state and many Trump counties. So my plan is to only get gas and food in Hillary counties. That basically means stopping in Eau Claire, and then filling up in Dane County along the way. Rockford would be OK too, since in the end Winnebago County narrowly voted for Hillary. But I'm not going to get out and set foot in any of the Trump counties that exist between Hennepin County and Lake County, IL. Ideally I could just boycott Wisconsin altogether but alas that wretched place has to be stuck between us.

This has however convinced me that everyone's hatred of the Green Bay Packers is 100% justified.

You do realize you're completely f[inks]ing insane, right? This is awful polarization at its worst (and also at its stupidest, like wtf dude).

I assume your GF is a Dem. Does she have a Dem state representative and/or senator? If she does, wouldn't she want them to vote for policies in line with the Dem party? I would assume so, and that means she would want her legislators to spend time in Springfield as members of the majority. But Springfield is in Sangamon county where Trump won 51-42. That means she would want her legislators to spend considerable time in a Trump county, so that they could do things that support Dems.

Therefore, it would make sense that she would want other Dems to also spend time in Trump counties if it were to further Dem policies. I can only believe that she would apply that to you, too.

I've only been in the following cities in 2017:

Minneapolis
St. Paul
Mendota Heights
Richfield
Edina

None have a single precinct that voted for Trump. All liberal, all the time!

Guess you can never take your kids to Disney World or Yellowstone, huh?

Uh, Disney World's county voted for Hillary.

True, looked at the wrong county.  Of course, that doesn't make your decision making process any less retarded.

Considering I am from such a county, yes. However, I have an apartment in a Clinton county which I primarily live in during law school. (Chatham.)

If you were planning to go somewhere on holiday outside of the US; would you checked how it voted in elections before booking it?  Like that seems like such an alien concept to me: one of my best trips was in a place with awful politics (Poland; although it was mostly Krakow which I *think* voted PO which I suppose is better than PiS; although Oświęcim most likely voted PiS which is... regrettable) but I didn't care.  Like sure if you're LGBTQ or an ethnic minority or a women in some places there are places to avoid and there are valid reasons not to go somewhere based on the political climate; but that's a lot more complex than "did x place vote for the bad people".  Besides you're white (I assume), a man and straight, so that really shouldn't be an issue for you.

Christ, I don't think that other than Berlin (although that was an SPD-led grand coalition) I've ever been somewhere for a holiday that locally has had "left-wing" rulers - Brussels has a PS-led government but that contains almost every party under the sun (both community socialist parties, the Christian Democrats from both, plus the OVLD who are the main centre-right Dutch liberal party and the FDF who are centre-right liberals who care mostly about the rights of French speakers) - basically the only people who aren't in are the French liberals, Greens, Communists and Flemish nationalists.  Krakow and Klaipeda I can't check because there's little to no information available in English but the mayor of Krakow is an independent who used to be in the SLD so who really knows, and I don't know about the current Klaipeda mayor but his predecessors were all from the liberal movement so that also didn't have a centre-right government.  All of them are nice places that I'd recommend going to, despite the fact that they have governments that you'd probably disapprove of.

Also its hilarious that you seem to be planning this Clinton-voting place only trip to visit your girlfriend who couldn't be arsed to register to vote, its really quite funny.

It literally amazes me that a Democrat who is trying to go to some gorgeous beach or beautiful national park would be bothered that the area votes Republican, or that a Republican who wants to go to a sporting event of their favorite team or go out on the town in some awesome big city would be bothered that the area votes Democrat.  Who cares?  Their reasons for voting that way have LITERALLY nothing to do with why you're going there.

Hahaha.  Like seriously, does he not realize that in like 99.99% of places that vote Democrat, there are lots of Republicans and vice versa?  Heck, Orange County still gave Trump SO many votes, and 440,000 people in Cook County cast ballots for The Donald ... they still exist.

Update:

My bizarre distinction of being in Clinton counties across multiple Trump states for 2017 will come to an end this afternoon, when I go to Williamson County.

Rensselaer, New York, specifically, where I was visiting friends. And you have to go there to get from Greenfield to Albany on Route 2, which is a trip I make a lot, so I anticipate I'll be there plenty more times even if I seldom leave Massachusetts otherwise.

Mind you I'd actually want to visit areas stronger for the OTHER side since I'd have more to do there. More fun to attack enemy strongholds than just hack a bunch of your own

That's why BRTD prefers to stick to >80% Clinton precincts, to minimize the chances that he might have to speak with a person who disagrees with him on politics.
