Surely the Mexican Greens manage to hit that SO BAD ITS GOOD sweet spot?!?!

I know literally nothing about the Mexican Green Party. What's their story?

It's a front party for some corrupt politicians and mobsters that doesn't actually support any green policies.

A highly corrupt organization, on sale to the highest bidder (presently "allied" to the dominant ruling party). Ideologically non-descript, with preference for dark causes (such as reinstatement of the death penalty) and corruption (making things easier for whatever businesses its leaders are involved in). But, with all that, not a marginal group (they have a governorship and a healthy faction in Congress).

200-peso notes.

And their party symbol, of course. I mean, they are still called the Green Ecologist Party of Mexico.

LOL at BRTD thinking the US Greens are worse than the right-wing Mexican Greens.

Mexican Greens are no more right-wing than they are left-wing. If a group of Communists were to buy its share in the party, they would happily advocate whatever it is that those guys would want.

Well, it's a little easier for Carlos Slim to buy them than some random communists.

The US Greens are a bunch of Putin-supporting, Brexit-backing, vaccine and technology fearmongerers who rave about "liberal elites", so basically pretty right wing too. Are you using wi-fi now by the way?

And they're worse by all standards, as their goals are right-wing corruption.

Around Europe, they're worse green parties, who have stupid policies because MUH DIVERSITY, and any action towards integration is RACIST!!

Which, if one takes the view that craziness is preferable to sanctimony, still means they're better than ours. Tongue

He does not need them. He goes for the main parties (including, btw, AMLO himself). these guys are cheap enough.

Brazil has one of the worst Green Parties. The PV is an ally of the right, very close to the PSDB and to the DEM.

Uh here's the tweet in question: https://twitter.com/DrJillStein/status/811760733193113601

That could've just as easily been tweeted by some alt-right douche.

Jill Stein would also probably support UKIP in the UK based on her tweets.

That article, was stupid and you know it

The vast majority of people who voted for brexit, weren't driven by hate or bigotry.

Jesus Christ was that post dumb and idiotic.

So would Tony Benn be a UKIP supporter now then?  He was always against things like the EU and I imagine would have voted leave (actually quite a compelling argument; basically that unelected organisations shouldn't hold significant power over elected governments: he held very similar views about the IMF and similar things and its a big part of why I'm a big fan of democratising the EU as much as possible: shifting power to the parliament, making Commissioners accountable not only to the national government that appointed them but to the parliament, the spitzenkandidaten system for choosing the Commission President so that ordinary people can have a say on the position directly rather than elected governments finding some centrist technocrat who no one really loves but no ones hates - I disagree with his argument in terms of leaving the EU but it has a good base).  I mean its pretty obvious that he wouldn't have been especially since there are Brexit supporters in every party - I've even met one from the Greens who are probably the most pro-EU party in terms of the membership.

In relation to the "everyone who supported Brexit were bigots!!" then, well, I struggle to believe that - I certainly refuse to believe that 51% of people in the UK are that way.  Because the result was so close (which seems to always be forgotten really) anything could have swung the result, you can't really attribute it towards any particular thing.  There's also the fact that when you look at the results (outside of London) areas with significant ethnic minority populations either voted leave reasonably strongly or didn't turn out: which suggests that it is a bit deeper.  At its heart I just think that it was your typical anti-government (or anti-establishment in this case most likely as well: Labour were very much included) protest vote and that enough people went to the polls and voted Leave just to kick Cameron in the balls to swing it.  But even if it was all racism then we really need to ask the question n about why areas that have voted Labour for a hundred years - a party that was instrumental to all anti-racism legislation right back to the first Race Relations Act - are now being attracted to awful reactionary forces, and what we need to do to change things, to win them back.
