I don't think it matters anymore whether he's a Chinese debt-puppet, blackmailed by Russian intelligence, or just a raving idiot.  The man is clearly a threat to the United States. If the GOP won't impeach him and replace him with Pence (which looks like a better idea literally every day) then I think the military has an oath about such things.

I read this earlier.

I'm more apt to believe it when someone other than Gizmodo starts covering it.

It's consistent with the universal dismissals of ambassadors immediately. I'm inclined to think this is just the policy of the administration: all political appointees must resign on Inauguration Day. Doesn't make much sense except as petty vengeance for roles that are not particularly high-profile, but there you have it.

Thing is, this is a Bush appointee so why would he be dismissed?

This is pretty reckless tbh. I don't know whether this is to get loyalists/cronies in as fast as possible, or to spite Obama (probably both), but govt should be held to a higher regard, especially concerning our nukes.

Whatever, though. Just more behavior I sincerely hope "real" America ends up regretting bigly in the future.

I'll post alternate sources when they turn up. But for now the "reputable" new outlets are too busy covering a twitter feud between  an award-winning actress and a reality-tv show host.

He's not. The head of the NNSA was a Bush appointee until 2014, but that guy retired, and Obama replaced him. The article is a little vague on this.

Tom Nichols - a pretty fierce Trump critic and nuclear policy expert - is unconcerned about this. Still really petty/dumb of Trump, of course
