Whatever you think of his political positions, Flake is objectively one of the most despicable human beings in the Senate.

Yup.

I thought we'd see more deflections, actually.  Maybe McConnell's abuse of decorum pushed Heitkamp, Donnelly, etc. in the right direction.

I like Manchin and Klobuchar. They had to do what they had to do. They're centrists. Sessions is a little crazy, but he is AG. There is nothing that can be done.

I think the most controversial of the remaining Cabinet nominees are:

Mnuchin (Treasury) - questions about ethics
Price (Health & Human Services) - many questions about ethics, especially insider trading
Puzder (Labor) - bad labor practices when CEO, abusing his wife, hiring illegal help
Pruitt (EPA) - currently suing the EPA he wants to lead, doesn't prioritize climate change

I think Perry and Carson still have to be confirmed too, but they seem to be liked so far without much pushback.

Also, Trump's cabinet was finally announced today, larger than Bush's or Obama's

Huh?  Klobuchar voted no, along with the other Dems.  Manchin was the only Dem. to vote for confirmation on Sessions.  Or are you referring to another vote?

Heller: Aye
Flake: Aye

Hoping competent democrats run against both of these guys.

Sessions: Present

--------------------------------

Sessions confirmed 52-47-1.

I hope Heller gets knocked out, he's in a very blue state. Flake? Probably not.

The NV Dems have zero bench.

So, I guess CIA Director and DNI have been promoted to cabinet-level, and CEA Chair has been demoted?

Dina Titus, Ruben Kihuen, and Ross Miller would all be strong enough candidates to knock out Heller.

Not sure. Haven't listened to every vote. I know Murkowski voted aye.

Now it's a 47-47 tie.

Now they are going to invoke Cloture on the nomination of Steve Mnuchin and then adjourn for the weekend. McConnell announced that the order of confirmation votes next week is Mnuchin, Shulkin, McMahon. Apparently dems are allowing that to be completed Tuesday, so there may be additional vote(s) later in the week.

Price might be worse than sessions and sessions is bad. The argument against Price ethics is more resonant than sessions is a racist.

Senate adjourned for the night. Correction to above post: There will be debate of the Mnuchin nomination tomorrow, but no final vote until Monday.

This is shameful.  How can anyone vote for someone as corrupt as Price?  He should be in jail, not running the Health department.
