Shulkin seems objectively ~qualified~ for VA, but am I the only one who thinks the symbolism and optics of him not actually being a veteran are really bad?

Until I have good reason to believe otherwise, I'm going to guess that any Republicans (other than Collins and Murkowski) who claim to be "on the fence" about DePlagiarist are, in the end, going to be good little minions and vote for her. They're probably just saying that they're undecided to make it look like they care about such trivial things as knowledge, experience, and qualifications.

Corbyn said DeVos will have the votes

Collins is full of sh**t too...she could of stopped DeVos but voted YES in the committee then voted NO in the Senate

What a joke

Her office probably got a lot of calls from concerned voters.

bullshyte. this is 100% about her being left off the hook by McConnell counting votes. he needed her for Committee, but now with Pence he's given her the green light to "vote her conscience" (i.e. pander to voters to show what an "independent" she is).

Collins has probably never cost the GOP leadership a single battle from her vote, and probably never will.

What exactly did you disagree with?  Where did I say that Collins is not a hypocrite?

Maybe. But by consistently needing to appear moderate, she denies that of others who might need to appear that way too. So it still matters.

Puzder's confirmation hearing will be Thursday at 10am:

https://www.senate.gov/committees/committee_hearings.htm

And I think we're still waiting for Perdue to have his confirmation hearing.

The delay on Perdue is understandable given that Trump nominated him just before the inaugration. The senate is busy with other high-profile spots - Munchin will be confirmed today, but they still have to confirm Wilbur Ross, Rick Perry, Ryan Zinke, Ben Carson, Scott Pruitt, and Mick Mulvaney.

Puzder in jeopardy. Four GOPers considering voting against him, according to sources.

Collins, Murkowski, Scott, and Isakson are the four. Collins says she will not make her decision until after the hearing. We've seen this show before, and let's just say I don't have a ton of confidence in them to follow through.

Yeah, they'll probably just draw straws to see which 2 get to vote No without affecting the confirmation.

That's not what the story says.  The story simply says that those four publicly say they're undecided, not that they're leaning for or against.  And as the story notes, Isakson and Scott never publicly commit to supporting a nominee before the confirmation hearing, so the fact that they're not committing this time either is a non-story.

The last 3 Presidents had 10 withdrawn nominations between them, but Trump might not have any with 4 of his most controversial nominees (Mnuchin, Price, Sessions, and Devos) confirmed. There's still Puzder, Zinke, and Pruitt, among others left.
