Because of her, or because of the magazine?

Just give a rest to this paper anyone, they went 'through something', and what they decide belong to them, nobody f**king cared about them before the attack, and barely in France, they are not supposed to be torch of whatever 'Freedom', a concept barely used by anybody in this world.

ITT: Dead0man lecturing people who saw their friends die brutally before their eyes and still went on doing what got them killed on how to be brave.

Hey, tough guy, why don't you start your own satirical newspaper and draw Muhammad as many times as you want?

Lecturing, where?  I'm just disappointed like the journalist that left the magazine and for the same reasons.  I haven't claimed to have balls big enough to do what they once did.  I don't know if I would if I had access to a pulpit big enough to matter.  Probably not because I'm a pussy.

But I'm much more disappointed by the people in the west the don't think freedom of speech is all that important.  Like Trump and most people on the left under the age of 35.

I just think it's understandable considering what they went through, and that drawing Muhammad has never been and certainly shouldn't be an end in itself among satirist. When something specific happens that requires taking a stand against fanaticism, I'm confident that Charlie Hebdo will do its job as it always has.

The argument is an odd one: i.e. it is necessary for a satirical publication to endlessly re-use material whether there is any satirical point in doing so or not because publishing that material in the past resulted in the murder of many of its staff.* Effectively it's an argument for ossification, to turn the publication into a permanent memorial. Which does not really sit well with satire.

*There's also the difficult matter that some of the people who were murdered did not agree with publishing the cartoons in the first place o/c.

I misread 'odd' for 'old', which made your first sentence a very confusing read initially.

Overall that paper publishes whatever it wants, it is also the point of 'Freedom of Speech' eventually, they never claimed for satire leadership either, they have been what they have been in French history, then they lived what we know, now up to them to choose their path, and anybody disagreeing or having any kind of judgement about what they publish can always enjoy publishing whatever they feel it's better to.

I get Charlie Hebdo, they have decided that it's better to select victims who don't hit back.

That's the problem with their kind of satire either they focus on the kind of people, who react with violence, if not they're just bullies or trolls, who select their victims based on whether they can get away with it.

The greatest of all ironies is how seriously satirists take themselves, which Charlie Hedbo's attackers exposed to the few holdouts who couldn't still see it.

That's not ironic. Satire has always been serious business.

What a valuable lesson they're teaching aspiring jihadists -violence works.

It's like going to a military hospital during WWI, meeting a guy that lost one leg and one arm after he led an assault on the opposite trench and in case he said he needs rest u throw at him:

'What a valuable lesson u're teaching to the ennemy soldier, his weapons work!'

A very impressive amount of experience with Islam. I don't know about her decision, but she seems like a literal freedom fighter.
