Consider that most Democrats believed that there was a strong case that Bush had effectively stolen Florida in 2000, and that "vote rigging" in Ohio received coverage from mainstream publications like Mother Jones and Vanity Fair, and I'm not sure what's so ridiculous about a mid-naughts liberal choosing to believe this this.

It's certainly not dumb enough to make me point and laugh, even if I'm not inclined to give the accusation much credence. But I guess we're still preoccupied with resenting jfern for unrelated reasons, aren't we, BRTD?

I know you don't like Parc du Sud, but that was my reaction to your post. I did not see that coming. I remember he liked Sanders, but didn't know about the other stuff.

As I recall, the issue was the accuracy/safety of the Diebold Voting Machines then in use in Ohio, not whether Bush or Kerry won. Diebold's CEO was a Bush campaign fundraiser.

The Diebold-screaming morons did a huge disservice to their cause and the Democratic Party in general.

Why? Because there's actually a valid concern about Republican backed voter suppression laws. Voter ID, shortening early voting and poll hours and all that stuff, it's very valid stuff to be concerned about and fight. Unfortunately a bunch of dipsh!ts like jfern and his ilk poisoned the well by instead just fearmongering with insane conspiracy theories and calling fraud every single time a Republican won a close or even not so close election (check out some of the DU archives, holy sh!t). I mean yeah Republicans do it too, but they're also not the ones threatened by such laws. This is exactly a big part of why DailyKos later banned any baseless accusations of vote fraud just like 9/11 truther nonsense and DU has effectively banned it now too.

It's kind of moot now that most people can't remember it, but jfern's moronic "DIEBOLD" screaming nonsense was a lot more baseless than people being concerned that Russian intelligence is illegally obtaining info and passing it off to an alt-right rapist.
