White House aides are scrambling to make sure Biden doesn’t meet Putin at the G20 conference in Indonesia. They don’t even want a hallway meeting or any photo ops.

I understand that Putin absolutely needs to be shunned by the international community and not legitimatized in anyway.

But shouldn’t Biden confront Putin? Shouldn’t world leaders surround Putin and demand he withdraws?

A good example would be Obama confronting Putin at the G20 summit in china September 2016. We’ve all seen the legendary photo of Obama towering over Putin and telling him to stop interfering in the presidential election.

Of course it won’t stop the war. But having Putin publicly confronted by the few people in the world who can would hurt his image.

Same with MBS. It’s obvious he doesn’t care about US-Saudi relations. He wants Saudi Arabia to charts its own course. That means helping Trump win re-election in 2024. Biden should make it very clear to him Saudi Arabia is on its own now and will be punished
