Le Pen shouldn't be as controversial as she is. It's annoying how whenever she is covered by the American media she is always listed as "Far right politician Marine La Pen" but nobody ever puts "far left " in headlines for European leftists (or Bernie Sanders for that matter)

Yes. You don't get to make yourself the center of the political spectrum. No major us political figure has advocated socialism, democratic or otherwise, since before the 1920's. FDR and LBJ, our two farthest left presidents economically (or Truman or Obama or George McGovern etc) would have been horrified to have been called socialists.
