Could Rex Tillerson be running for president one day? Either in 2020 if the Donald doesn't seek reelection or in 2024? Probably Pence would have a better shot at the nomination, but there is no guarantee he is running either. How would a candidate Rex Tillerson be doing in the primaries or the general election? He could run as successful businessman who already served in a high political office. That kind of candidate would certainly be interesting. It would, I assume, also depends on his domestic policy positions, which are lesser known. I think he's somewhat between a mainstream and more moderate Republican on these issues.

He's the kind of guy that folks think SHOULD be President.  A guy who's a big deal, with big accomplishments, that's been an executive at the highest levels.

I do think he'll be Trump's most highly regarded Cabinet member.  Whether or not he wants to be President, or is willing to go through the public hassle to become President is another story.
