This scientist accepts climate change is real, but says it's good for the USA.

That it will also increase the USA's agricultural potential, as more of northern USA warms and becomes good farmland.

I've also heard others say it's good because it will cause mass upheaval and starvation in 3rd world countries, since only developed countries will be able to adjust to climate change. And that as long as the US seals its border to the south, and guards refugees from coming on the coasts (no refugees expected from Canada), then the USA will emerge stronger than ever. Meanwhile, the 3rd world countries, as well overpopulated countries like China and India, collapse or die off completely, and overrun weaker developed countries like France and Germany, allowing the USA to reign supreme over the world after enough of them have collapsed and/or died off. All without the USA having to do anything except seal its border with Mexico, build up the military to guard the coasts, build up our infrastructure, limit immigration, and keep pumping out greenhouse gases... which basically also already happen to be Trump's policies.

If some people think climate change is good for the same reason why you think climate change is bad, what can you do? You can't change their mind by convincing them that it's real... they accept it's real. You can't change their mind because they don't understand the consequences... they welcome the consequences. What to do?

Wouldn't climate change actually be better for Canada? Think of all the farming and new living space once that permafrost thaws out. America will just have to annex it when most of our country gets too hot. I'm sure that the 100-year Trump presidential dynasty would be open to that.

What would we do about someone who claimed that dropping nuclear bombs on cities would be good for the economy and public health?

Treat them as insane, and prosecute them if they try to act on their delusions.

-Climate change will undoubtedly be good for Russians and farmers in the northern US due to longer growing seasons and greater access to drill for oil. So no voting against interests here!

To clarify further: it's saying the U.S. should as a matter of policy, try and make the impoverished nations of the tropics unliveable and leave their inhabitants to their deaths.

On top of the fact that it is in no way good for America's economy for this to happen, it is a genuinely worrying way to look at your fellow man.

-You're pretending North Dakota (which swung massively to Trump) doesn't exist, or is not a part of America's economy. And the impoverished nations of the tropics are already unlivable, and were much more so half a century ago.

Nihilists, dude.

I mean, say what you will about the tenets of climate change denial, but at least it's an ethos.

Racist is too kind of a word, and most others don't really capture the sheer horror and disgusting nature of his comments.   What do you think is more appropriate?

It's not that simple. Temperature ranges may change, but the amount of daylight doesn't. And weather patterns are going to change as well.

Climate change that makes winters shorter and less severe in the American Midwest will cause reductions in crop yields. Winter blizzards in the Corn Belt protect topsoil moisture in the non-growing season, supply critical melt-water for germinating and vulnerable young plants. Add to this, rainfall patterns might take summer rains out of the region altogether. The harsh fire-and-ice Dfa climates of hot rainy summers and snowy winters might give way to a hot-summer Mediterranean climate (Csa) or even semi-arid BSks climate as in California's Central Valley.

Without the snows atop the soil from December to March, the soils would have to be irrigated with winter rains collected in giant water projects as in California. The midwestern states do not have the deep canyons at the foot of mountain ranges for the giant water projects that make much of California agriculture possible.

Just shows how inconsistent Trump and friends are on this. Climate change is a hoax, it's real, but not man-made, it's real, man-made, and good, it's real, man-made, bad, but we shouldn't do anything about it, ALL AT THE SAME TIME.

Not sure if the fourth most populous state in the union getting destroyed by sea level rises would be balanced out by a somewhat warmer climate in the Great Plains.

It's only "good" for the US if you want massive net in-migration from most of the south and lower midwest to the upper midwest and North, large numbers of civil wars around the world for control of govts in upheaval and over water resources, deserts from California to Texas and huge dustbowls, and Cat 4 and 5 hurricanes hitting every year, multiple times a year, millions more with asthma. But it's so good!

Meanwhile, live look at this advisor:
