As an European, I don't know if the Mayor of Los Angeles is even an important figure.

But coming from seemingly nowhere could be an advantage (he could be the Jimmy Carter of 2020).

Pros :

-Young
-Smart
-Latino
-Lieutenant in the Navy (Though never deployed)
-Has fostered Children (How do you even attack that guy ?)
-Has fought for a $15 minimum wage

Cons :

-Not elected to a national office (though that could be an advantage, or he could run for Senate/Governor in 2018)
-Kinda robotic/Passionless
-Jewish (I guess that could count for many Christians, even though the USA have less antisemitism than most western Nations)

What are your thought on him ?

I'm not even sure he will be re-elected Mayor to be honest.

Eric Garcetti couldn't even win a California gubernatorial primary.

1. They don't have party primaries.
2. Gavin Newsom will be officially crowned by Jerry Brown and the California Democratic Party pre-election.

Nah, he doesn't have the national name recognition. Check again when/if he wins statewide and/or does something else especially notable.

Governor Eric Garcetti or Senator Eric Garcetti would be a terrific candidate - I think I have a timeline of him being the initial front-runner for the Democratic nomination.
