All these conspiracy theorists who are swarming over hurricane Harvey are the scum of the earth... Why cant these c-nts just have some respects for everyone affected? Cry

Because they're are terrible beings who enjoy the suffering and deaths of others.  (If Hell exists they'll all burn in it for eternity though.)

Well, if one good thing came from today, at least my friend didn't end up dying.

I just met former Congresswoman Stephanie Herseth Sandlin!  I happen to be at my alma mater right now, where she is University President.

Lok, I hope your friend is ok.  I wish the very best for you two.

My hair forced the guy behind me out of his seat, and my school district's website is down. God bless America.

Lok, that sucks. Just remember that, without people like you, God knows how many of those situations would have ended in tragedy.

In lighter news, tomorrow I'm going to try and collect twenty signatures in support of an on-campus Democratic Club at my high school. Since I hate asking people to do things for me, and I try to avoid talking politics in non-political settings, and I'm also not naive enough to expect one in five of the people who sign to actually attend meetings... I'm not looking forward to it. Tongue

Got all of them. As expected, about four in five were conditional on not having to attend meetings, which is stupid but whatever

Just found out I missed the National Merit semifinals by 1 point.  Any other state I would've gotten it, and I would've made last year's cutoff too. I get it's not a big deal in the grand scheme of things but it's pretty damn disappointing.

On the other hand, good shot I'll get an internship with Rep. Lance this fall. Fingers crossed it doesn't slip away like it did this summer.

So I have spent the past week waking up all soggy, despite the air conditioner being on, although this is partially my fault for having such a strong preference for warm blankets, even when not needed. Now my head is in the clouds and i'm pretty sure that the vibrations I feel in my chest are from sleep deprivation too.

I always rediscover it momentarily when I have enough time to think. Last night I was struck by the fact that, as much as there were moments of joy in my childhood that, in retrospect I wish I had appreciated, that I likely enjoyed them to the fullest extent I knew possible, and yet I still could barely remember them. Not only are feelings temporary, even their memories will not survive our lifetimes. Even if I could remember my greatest moments of elation or the worst depths, they are entirely lost to me and deprived of meaning.

This is the second morning I've had to awkwardly comfort my roommates girlfriend after a fight. He's a nice guy but he's so cruel to her for some reason. I'm tempted to tell her to leave him but I don't feel it's my business at all. What do I do here? I have no experience in this department (and never wanted it).

That's a potentially nasty situation. The best you can do is listen to her, give advice if she asks, and maybe talk to your roommate about all of it. If he cares about her, he shouldn't be treating her badly. I wouldn't do it in a confrontational manner, but like you're trying to help him. Overall, I'd try to stay out of it as much as possible though. You don't need problems with the person you live with.

I have it confirmed my book (first volume to be precise) is going to be published in two weeks, having been sent to formater. As I've probably mentioned before, it was originally set for July, but the publisher experienced some general delays.

A novel and it's in English. Obviously a political-historical novel.

I'd rather not post details here, since it'd be against the ToS to advertise.
