I'm booked up and paid for the USA in March. I am struggling right now as I don't think I can visit in good conscience.
Maybe your visa will be cancelled for being a Scottish terrorist seeking to dismember the UK. It would make as much sense as anything else Trump's done so far with immigration.

Apparently when I renew my waiver I might be subject to hand over details concerning my social media. Even my own government hasn't asked for that and I work for them.

Are you Libyan or something? If you are I'd be the first I've heard of it. Otherwise you should be more or less totally unmolested besides the usual creeps at the TSA line.

Came out to my entire math class without them knowing. My teacher said something about how boys jump up to tap the projector, but girls don't, so I tapped the scissors on her desk, and joked (well, "joked") that since I'm tall enough to not have to jump, I must be a girl. The whole classroom laughed, presumably unaware that I actually am a girl.

Don't worry guys, thanks to being on one of my off days, I did NOT get caught in the Anti-Milo crossfire.

Can still hear the helicopters outside....

No, that part dissipated at around 11 PM, Pac-Time.

I guess tonight, I'll get to see what the damage is while I scout around for a parking spot.

My second semester started this week, and one of my new classes is AP Human Geography. The teacher is some ditzy cheerleading coach.

Today, she was showing us a PowerPoint of different "regions" in the United States and which areas they cover, like the Bible Belt in the South and the Corn Belt in the Midwest.

When we got to the Rust Belt, she asked the class if anyone knew how the region got its name. I raised my hand and said "manufacturing and industrial decline," which is the obvious correct answer. She said, "no, it's because it's cold in the north and when snow melts on your car it turns the metal into rust."

Unbelievable.

hahaha that's awesome

I must say, as much as I like America I'm glad I got my education in France. Aside from terrible English teachers, I really can't complain.

That reminds me of how, when I was a Boy Scout earning my orienteering badge, the adult teaching the lesson claimed that compasses point north because there is a gigantic pile of iron ore sitting on the North Pole.

Fortunately, I grew up attending a rural school district that did not offer AP courses, so I lucked out of slugging through that brand of memorize & test idiocy.
Yes.  People are stupid.  Especially teachers oftentimes.  And it is paramount that you make them look stupid in front of the rest of their students.

My history teacher mentioned and gave a few bullet points about the Ottoman decline. Normally I hold it in, but I raised my hand about one of his bullet points. "By 'lack of protection,' do you mean their general lack of allies due to religious differences alongside comparative lack of then-modern military technology?"

"No, I meant their, uh, the weak army and rulers."

ugh got my marks back for my essay over christmas- got a low 2:1 on the essay that I spend a 3-4 weeks planning, and which is about New Labour, yet somehow got 10 marks higher in the philosophy essay that I spend 3 days doing. Complete madness, and confirms my theory that the best essays should be done quickly

These posts about teachers are indicative of a major problem in this country and elsewhere:  the pay and standards for teachers both need to go up.  And once we secure good teachers, it's probably a good idea to let them have more leeway instead of being micromanaged by politically motivated curriculum standards.

I've been considering getting guinea pigs. How do they do in smaller houses?

They do just fine, but having a large cage is optimal, especially if you get them in pairs or triplets, which they tend to be happier in as opposed to being alone.

Is the smell an issue?

I've never had a problem with it, so long as you clean their cage about once a week you should be fine.
