I've been considering getting guinea pigs. How do they do in smaller houses?

They do just fine, but having a large cage is optimal, especially if you get them in pairs or triplets, which they tend to be happier in as opposed to being alone.
Is the smell an issue?

I've never had a problem with it, so long as you clean their cage about once a week you should be fine.

Yeah, basically this. It occasionally got annoying when I had guinea pigs when I was younger, but it wasn't nearly as bad as with, say, ferrets. Just clean the cage regularly and burn some incense or something if for whatever reason you find yourself noticing it more than usual.

In general they're delightful pets and I'd recommend them to anyone.

The last pledge class I'll see as an active brother was pinned today. Sentimental time. God help us all.

Carolina's great!

It's better to get at least two. Guinea pigs needs a company. When one of my previous passed, I quickly got a second one so the remaining fellow (white-black-red) won't be alone.

Smaller houses are not a problem. Guinea pigs doesn't just roam around like cats, dogs or even rabbits, they need a cage and preferably, a small home, just like they need a safe spot in the wild. Just remember about letting them out frequently to run and play, but keep an eye on them. Be especially careful about things like cables.

Obviously, it's preferable to have pigs of the same sex or, if of diffrent sexes, at least one neutered/sterilized. Otherwise they'll multiply fast as hell. I mean like proverbial rabbits.

Just don't be surprised they can get quite active at night. They are mostly active at nighttime in the wild for obvious security reasons.

Sometimes it appears like they don't sleep at all, with their eyes open, but they do.

Was sentimental for me as well. Crazy how fast time flew by when I was a brother.

Some "motivational speaker" is at the campus Greek conference today. Unsure whether to characterize him as a cult leader for late capitalism, friendly fascism, or some sort of counterintuitive socialism. Hate this sh#t.

Applied online today. Assuming I get the grades I intend to, I will be graduating in May with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science (Honors Program) and a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice Studies.

I think too much. I need to get my life together...tired of being idle.

My biggest regret is riding into 2016 so high on life. Hit me like a brick wall later in the year.

This just in: insomnia still terrible. On the plus side, I have no work today, so at least I can see the sunrise without dreading being clinically dead on the job later today.
