As much as I hate Virginia Beach, it's nice to be out of the frost belt.

Woke up today sick. Thought I'd go to the gym by 8:30, didn't happen; thought I'd go by 11, didn't happen. Made it through my one class and just started a five hour shift. Wouldn't mind it except that I'm laying carpet at the end. Gonna try an' find a way outta this.

The sickness hit me just as I'd stumbled onto a major source of basic information for my thesis; tryin'a get that done before the end of the month, so health is paramount. Such is one of the reasons why I've decided i should probably cut out my major source of carbs and calories, which will not be easy given my lifestyle.

I'm extremely irreligious, so I just find faith bizarre.

I just find you bizarre.

We know about the bike. You don't have to pretend it doesn't exist anymore. If you want to exercise, don't let us get in your way.

Generic update for everyone else update: I'm seeing my school's shrink because I'm starting to crack. Maybe President Trump was right. Maybe I can't take this much winning perhaps?

For the first time in my history on Atlas I now have a negative economic score on the Political Matrix. Started off as E 8.52 almost exactly two years ago.

At the same time, my social score is higher than ever.

Found out that my cat died this morning, which really hit me as I'm wasn't back home to see him. He'd been ill for the last couple of days but I thought it was just an infection.  We've had him for 15 years, and he was my first pet- completely ruined my weekend

It's never getting easier when your pet passes away. My sympathies.

Thanks guys- more concerned about how my mum is holding up as she's home alone to deal with it, and was completely devoted to them. Just sad to lose two pets in such a short time

... I'm a terrible person. Blair don't read this tiny text, it will hurt.

My first thought after reading this was: "What a cat-astrophe!"

I had my first meeting with a personal trainer today and we did some tests. My overall weight isn't hugely problematic but I do have too much body fat so my expectation is he'll recommend mostly converting-fat-to-muscle exercises rather than the weight-loss exercises I was initially expecting. This is honestly a little alarming to me but whatever. My cardiovascular health is good so I'm assuming the fat isn't in the worst places it could be, and my stamina and endurance seem less unspeakably awful than I was afraid.

That's great! Good luck in going forward with this.

(though I do think the idea of converting fat into muscle is a proven myth)

Well, regardless of if it's a myth or not, the fat needs to go somewhere, and muscle needs to come from somewhere.

I got a more detailed assessment back from the trainer today. It's godawful on pretty much every metric and I'm incredibly discouraged.

I don't recall seeing you in any of the PAPOY pics as a fat. This is very worrying. Best of luck! I appear to be in my fourth day out of the gym myself, which is on its own quite disconcerting. Tongue

It's distributed pretty evenly. I look maybe twenty-five or thirty pounds lighter than I actually am. But, yeah, I've gained a lot of weight since I've been in grad school.

Thanks for the well-wishes, guys.

Funnily enough, owing to sickness, I ate comparatively very little Thursday through Saturday, and then shaved Saturday night. Two people within a few minutes asked if I'd been working out.

I went to bed early but was woke up four hrs later by two friends who had something important to ask me about. Now I can't sleep Angry

I went to bed early because I've been stressing out over a potential job I applied for. It seems like a good job, on paper, but the reviews are mixed and there is high turnover. It's a sales job with a very edgy millennial vibe (I keep thinking that it reminds me of a Silicon Valley meets Buzzfeed type job lol).

I want a place where I can start a career, hopefully a long-term one or one that will help me climb the ladder at other places.

I applied for it but was never really sure if I wanted it. I need a job, but I don't need to be in a situation where I'd possibly be out of a job within a few months.

My in-person interview went well - I feel like I performed well and got the positive points of my resume across but I did not hear anything that reassured any of my concerns. In hindsight, I feel like I was just very happy with my performance during the interview and did not focus on anything else.

I am expecting a response on whether I'm getting an offer on Monday or Tuesday. If I get an offer I think I'll ask some more questions about the turnover rate (I know should've asked during the interview). Do you guys think I should ask these type of questions if I get an offer?

I think I'll likely take the job even if I don't want to because I've become so self-conscious about being unemployed (~4 months looking for a job; 5 months unemployed). It's the most serious interview I've had since December.
