I just saw one of the most disgusting things I have ever seen- a Republican on Facebook arguing that abortion should be allowed, despite the fact that he thinks it is murder.  Why?  Because he thinks that it's mostly Democrats that are murdered, so he thinks it is worth it as a means of controlling the population of liberals.

Disgusting!!

Wow, I have no words.

You should invite him to debate Beet.

More conflicted, because I want more minorities/Democratic voters, but it's not worth giving up women's fundamental human rights.

What debate would there be? We would both agree.

Abortion really seems to bring out the very worst in both "sides". At least that only happens in America, though.

Two of my posts were deleted by some mod for no good reason:

Always have a bitter taste in my mouth when that happens.

I have started a new book; it's a horror novel. Draws a lot of inspiration from Stephen King and Dean Koontz.

dude weed lmao

Is it common for anyone else when they're stoned to read everything in their head in a slightly different voice than they're used to?  Like there's kind of a big "boom" or echo to it?

Proud to say that I have never used drugs in my life and never will to the day I die.  The same is true for alcohol.

After getting a nice tax return using Turbo Tax, I think find out a form was sent to me late so I have to amend my returns. The amended returns, which must be mailed, include an entire refund of the return I originally received. Sad

There's nothing wrong with a few alcoholic beverages.  Hell, Jesus turned water into wine.  It's just when you go overboard, same with chocolate.

Very nice! We agree on something. I have never smoked a cigarette. I drank very little alcohol in my life and will not do any drugs. I actually like the smell of weed but can not smoke it as it is illegal in Missouri and Utah.

This isn't a bad thing.

Now, as for me, thanks to a decent turn of events, I'm getting ready to get rid of my old car...thanks goodness, I'm tired of replacing belts and shocks and all that other crap.

My campus-based church community (not that I'm well-integrated into it) is, I am convinced, engaged in some war on introverts. I believe this to be political in nature. Since a bit after Trump's election, the largely liberal-leaning Jesuit community and associated volunteers has enforced efforts to socialize us: having us shake hands with each other and introduce ourselves to strangers before mass, having us go around the entire time to say "peace be with you" (or some variation thereof), and having everyone in the chapel form a circle of sorts during a specific period of the Liturgy. I don't know how long I'll be able to do this. My conviction is that the belief is that the current regime is one of hatred and bigotry, and they are doing what they can to manufacture some community of egalitarian social values to function as an alternative social community and force us to imbue those around us with some sort of humanity. While at a theoretical level, I'm supposed to value socialization owing to how civil society can keep a civilization together, I can barely stand this when confronted with it in person, especially if I'm suspicious of it. This also, of course, prompts obvious questions about religion's role in political society in a way that I find humorous, as it challenges conventional conceptions of how religion functions in regards to the state in the West.

True! Tongue

Up past midnight working on school things for the first time in a while. I'm desperate to finish this God-awful year(s?)-long project soon--spring break is in two weeks. I'm terrified that the end result won't be satisfactory. The detox after this will be much-needed.
