Both are rural counties that used to be Solid D way back when [Lassen didn't even vote for Nixon] but have both since switched sides, both are mountainous, however, one has Morgantown...while the other has a really pretty former volcano.

The nearest YUGE city for one is Pittsburgh, PA...the other is Reno,NV...maybe Sacramento.

So which will it be?

Morgantown, WV is a great place, as is the rest of Monongalia County.

Ironically, Lassen Peak isn't actually in Lassen County, but in Shasta County. Likewise Mount Shasta isn't in Shasta County, but in Siskiyou County.

I think it'd be nice to live in West Virginia.

These are all hilariously true.

I'm with Morgantown on this one.

Much as I like Dixie NorCal, and I like having Tahoe close by...the living costs are just too much in that state and Morgantown is the best part of WV.

P.S. The next one will be Summit, UT vs Honolulu, HI

I thought Torie lived in the most conservative CA county, but alas, I was wrong.

First of all, both are far too rural. Second of all, both get far too cold. I would pick Reno or Sacramento over Pittsburgh, but Morgantown seems better than anyplace actually in Lassen County... Hmm, I think I'm actually going with West Virginia over California here, which seems really weird to me. Tongue

Sorry bud. California has some beautiful scenery, but culturally I'd be much more comfortable anywhere in WV than anywhere in CA.

Regardless of these descriptions, I'd prefer Monongalia County. Lassen County has some cool mountains but it seems like a bad fit for me culturally.

Anywhere in West Virginia > Anywhere in California

I echo this as well, with a few exceptions.

California. Mostly as I could visit more conservative and less depressing states, like Idaho.

I would suggest that Modoc County is the most conservative in CA. But would still vote for the CA option. The rural areas of my home state are beautiful, especially the middle and northern part around Lake Tahoe.

I generally prefer WV to CA, but I do like the Central Coast and parts of Orange and Ventura counties. And of course, Santa Anita is one of my favorite places to spend an afternoon in the world, despite the poorly-dressed Californians even in the Chandelier Room.

I like how none of you have looked up the places and learned that this county in California is dominated by the prison industry, with half of the population working for the prisons.
