-This is from the New York Times. However, I would not be surprised in the least bit if this were actually the case. Remember, this is the dude who wanted to eliminate the department of Energy, but could not remember that he wanted to eliminate it on the debate stage, thus ending his presidential prospects.

At least now it makes more sense that he wanted to eliminate the DoE when he was running for president in 2012.

Clearly he thought it was just a big public relations department for the oil and gas industry.

Trump was right: Rick Perry only wears glasses to look smart and its not working

Did he actually say that? Hahahahaaha he's so right.  The question is why did he nominate him?  Didn't Perry call him a cancer?

This isn't any more WTF than him being appointed to head the department he famously forgot that he wanted to eliminate

But yeah, it's pretty basic knowledge that the Department of Energy is in charge of nuclear weapons and operates the national labs.

How much could there be to the idea that he (and maybe Carson and Devos) got the appointments solely because Trump's administration plans to dismantle these departments?

Hopefully Perry continues to forget that he wanted to eliminate it.

What is needed to abolish a department?

I refuse to believe it's a coincidence that he's been offered the very same department he forgot he wanted to abolish. This is all some dumb joke from the Trumpster.

To be fair to Rick Perry, he didn't know much about it the first time:

Dont laugh, when you get in your 40-50's these things happen more often.

Basic, but not obvious, just as it's not obvious that the major purpose of the Agriculture Department these days is to run SNAP.

I can't tell Onion articles apart from reality anymore, and that is a clear sign that something has gone horribly wrong.

One of their articles today was literally entirely factual:
